You took away Kobe Bryant, then Chadwick and Trebek. And for nearly nine minutes, a cop kneeled on George Floyd’s neck. A worldwide epidemic left us holed up in our homes. We had to wear masks always, when we dared to roam. We won’t be sad to see you go, as you might guess from this verse. But one thing that I’m certain of, next year could hardly be worse.

Nice poem, We haven’t had a poem from Luann in quite a while and they are usually pretty good. 2020 has been a long and wearying year. If we can get through January 2021 things have to look better.

In Seattle we rang in the new year 2020 with high winds and no fireworks display. An omen of the year ahead. Hoping for better results next week!

I’m not very poetical, but it’s just lyrical to wish for 2021 to be more hopeful, as 2020 was so hopeless.

Just a few more days till this dumpster fire of a year is behind us. And to be quite frank about it, it can’t end soon enough. Hopefully, 2021 won’t be as bad, fingers, eyes and toes crossed….

Day one was ok. Day 75, not so much.

Were I a prayin’ guy, I’d pray for a happier new year. As it is, I’m just hoping.

I wonder how many of the people who are looking forward to 2020 coming to an end will be severely disappointed when they wake up in 2021 and realize NOTHING. HAS. CHANGED.

Nothing unites warring people like a common enemy.

2020 has generously given us many reasons to unite… systemic oppression, climate change, pandemic, economic meltdown.

Did it work? Or do we still need an invasion by space aliens?

This year got messed by the people living here. Selfishness reigned and 5 million pay with their lives. Last I heard, half are having so much fun that they won’t be in line for a lifeline.

Yup, “cross your fingers”, that always works. That may be the most ridiculous euphemism in the english language for actual, mindful hope.

Keep your fingers crossed. It can do no harm. But wear a mask, wash your hands, keep your social distance, get vaccinated as soon as you can, and try to emulate Anne Frank’s belief; “In spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart. I simply can’t build up my hopes on a foundation consisting of confusion, misery, and death.” Happy New Year.

All the bullying and hate has been from the left. You can’t name anything from the person you are referring too. Unless you consider the highest employment rate for minorities ever bullying. Unless you consider negotiating prescription price especially insulin lower bullying. Unless you consider negotiating new trade deals to help American farmers bullying. Unless you consider working with companies to produce a vaccine and therapeutics in record time bullying. I give up because facts won’t matter to you. But if you want to discuss politics go to mallard filmore and leave us alone.

Gonna be a lot of disappointed people out there when they realize the pandemic is still upon us and getting worse because of the flood of people that just had to go somewhere over the holidays instead of helping reduce the spreading.

It seems to me that Luann (who is wearing a mask!) is referring to Covid-19 here. She is not making any political comment that I can see. To me, the Trump haters are REALLY reaching today. But no matter! Soon, we will begin a new year, and like Luann, I hope it will be a better one of healing from this illness and being able to do all the things a free society needs to do to grow and thrive. Peace to you all——even those who hate. Happy coming New Year!!!!!!!

Nothing will magically change on January 1st. The year 2020 is not responsible for what happened in those 12 months. Humans are responsible for most of the bad things that happened.

2020 is ultimately a year a lot of bad things just all happened at once. They could have happened last, or next year. What will you do with the time you’ve Bern given now?

One of the attractive aspects of the Luannaverse has been the absence intense-political discussion. I really resent people bringing their hatred on to this site. Hopefully we can return to the famil-style strip in the future.

As far as effect on the public at large goes, 2020 blew it from around day 75; i.e., mid-March, when the quarantines first went into effect. But the general indictment remains valid. 2020 sucks, big time!

Sometimes life is bad and sometimes it’s worse. All we can do is stop complaining and blaming and become what we want from others! May ALL have a good 2021!

So for 2021 I would like to see somehow the adoption of Shannon to Brad and Toni. Brad and Toni are looking out to be good (almost foster)parents. Maybe and adoption and Toni getting pregnant accidentally for that story-line.
