The Tin Man just doesn’t have the heart to do that. If he did, he might fall into the fire, and his last words would be, “I’m smelting! I’m smelting!”

Trivia time: Who knows the Tin Man’s real name? (He really does have one in the Oz books).

Ooh, ooh! I know the Scarecrows name cause I saw him on a half price ticket on Broadway. Not sure of the name of the show (Come Summer?) but it held on for 5 shows despite the best efforts of Ray Bulgier (Sp?).

Yes i do buy half price tickets 20 minutes before the show. Never got a second date with a girl after I watched Robert Goulet from the row behind the picky lady.

emember the faces the last time THOM drew a cornfield? I have the drug store on speed dial.

Just to be clear: The actor in the 1939 movie was Jack Haley - but what was the Tin Woodman’s character name?

This isn’t the Roast of Donald Trump, so no, we CAN NOT burn the Scarecrow.

There’ll be a hot time in the old field tonight! And that crow’s scared of the hayseed?

The Tin Woodman was Nick Chopper.

and just WHERE would Tin Man be carrying this match??

I’d think the crow would be more afraid of the Pop Corn if the ScareCrow was burned…..

Nick Chopper is correct for the orignial Oz books. However, in the stage version of Wicked the munchkin Bok is turned into the tin man when one of Nessa’s (aka Wicked Witch of the East) attempts at a spell goes wrong. In order to save his life Elphaba (aka Wicked Witch of the West) turns him into someone who can live without a heart.

I also remembered it as Nick. I dressed my 3 boys and younger daughter as the OZ characters one year for Halloween. My oldest boy was the tin man (I sewed the suit of tin foil rubber cemented to sheets, but it rubbed off while they walked around the trick or treat circuit and he was very upset (even though the silver makeup worked great and the funnel etc, and he had a paper mache ax), Youngest boy was the lion (with a big head of paper mache) and a dyed flannel costume). Middle son was the scarecrow - the easiest costume, though Dorothy with her toy dog was fairly easy too. Parents hardly ever bother with costumes now-a-days - really a shame!

Technically there were two Nick Choppers. The Tin Man, and the original Nick Chopper whose head the Tin Man found in a cupboard.
