there are OTHER movies to watch, Sally, you know… unless this cinema has only one screen, then you’re out of luck

In the Classic Peanuts strips, the kids offer a coin to the ticket seller. In this one, it’s a bill. And nowadays it’s a big bill.

I should say that was quite unnecessary and insincere on Linus’ part! She just wanted to sit next to him (and maybe talk incessantly for the whole movie), that’s all!

Movie date nights have long gone out the window. Dinner dates are cheaper and more productive. The movies for the last few, or maybe several years, have not been worth anywhere near their ticket price. A good dinner for two may cost a bit more, or maybe not, but usually is more enjoyable than the trash Hollywood is putting out.

I remember when Sally was a baby, and Linus was talking about her to Charlie Brown. “I’m five years older than she is. Five years! That might not seem like much now, but, good grief, when I’m 95 she’ll only be 90!”

Unrequited like is so difficult. That Brown family has it rough. Sally for Linus and Charlie for the little red-headed girl. No one else in the strip has that problem.

No wonder Linus doesn’t want her. She behaves just like his sister Lucy.

When I was a kid, (long time ago) my admission was ten cents. Then WWII started and they raised it to eleven cents…. I was furious!…one penny more!….how dare they I thought?…of course I was just ten years old and didn’t know any better.

I can name all the characters in line (from left to right): 555 95472, Sally Brown, Linus Van Pelt, Lucy Van Pelt, Roy (unknown last name – not to be confused with Roy, Woodstock’s bird friend).
