Donald Trump’s brand outshines the GOP’s and that is a problem for the Republican Congress. Trump is ruining the GOP brand by pulling back the curtain on the white supremacists and new-Nazis he has courted in his base. The Republican party can not reach out and talk to people who don’t agree with them, they have taken a major step back. The fact that the head of the party cannot call a spade a spade, hurts. An it is nearly impossible for them to try and explain it. Trump has been contracting the GOP, not expanding it. A coalition that wants Nazis in it, is baffling to say the least, and not exactly helpful in terms of expanding the coalition. Trump supports what white supremacists think, and he doubles down on it when he speaks. That is disheartening, to African Americans, to Republicans and to Americans. It hurts.
