It’s nothing more than a distraction from the truly evil and disastrous things this con man is doing to and with the country. He’s like a street hustler who wants you to watch his left hand while his right hand is picking your pocket. And the press dutifully falls for it every time. Focus on the substantive actions of Don Juan and his minions; the policies put in place, the policies terminated, the rules repealed and withdrawn, the legislation proposed. Not this side show nonsense.

Fire the disrespectful “president”!

I’m reminded of a phrase my mother often said; give respect where respect is due. Implicit was the concept that the decision about respect was up to the individual.

Pressuring people to display “respect” is more likely to engender the opposite.

Police officers and firefighters are public servants and are expected to be unbiased. Professional athletes are not, unless it is part of their contract. The US was started by a bunch of protesters -- the Declaration of Independence -- and will survive as long as we are able to detect and correct the flaws in our laws. I see the NFL as entertainment and entertainers very often let us know about their opinions and beliefs.

Fire the disrespectful president.

If you want to respect the flag, don’t collude with Russia.

Respect must be earned, it cannot be commanded.

“When Fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.”When I see Trump hug a flag on stage, while having dodged the draft, or go to Liberty University to express his love for the Bible, while promoting his own book “Art of the Deal” as a close second, makes me wonder if Sinclair Lewis wasn’t on to something.

At this point getting rid of Trump isn’t nearly enough. His appointees in EVERY department of government are intent on DESTROYING not just government as Bannon wanted, but the entire country, resources, lands, waters, air, EVERYTHING. Nero did far better for Rome than Trump’s chosen are doing for America. Pence would continue, while reading to us from the bible on how Jesus approves.

@DTROUTMA You are so right. They are disassembling and destroying everything in the government from the inside. Even impeachment won’t be enough to help. I do not know if we can rebuild after we get rid of Trump. If he is replaced with Pence, Pence will bring a Christian Taliban in its place and continue the destruction. The horrible thought that plagues me everyday is how are we going to survive as a country after this?. How can it possibly be repaired?

I guess these peaceful demonstrators don’t stack up to the “fine individuals on both sides” at Charlottesville.

Free speech does NOT mean that you are protected from repercussions of making those statements.

People get fired from organizations for making offensive statements often – and last week an executive’s bonus was cut because of an expletive-laced statement about his neighbor (one F list “comedienne” names Kathy Gifford.)

Alas, it seems that if these pampered little professional athletes that have risen from poverty or wherever continue to do this, they will lose a lot of money. Viewership is down. Revenue is down. Direct TV is apparently issuing refunds of money paid for the NFL package.

You have a right to your free speech, however others have a right to respond to your statements and they have that right to do so just as much as some player or team owner does.

The unasked question is, “why do we need the flag and anthem patriotism show at a football (or baseball, etc.) game, anyway?” This is a nonsensical tradition.

I got an idea: Football player can claim to all be Jehovah Witnesses and the flag is a graven image.
