Much of Putin’s popularity was due to some extent to the wealth that their petroleum exports brought to Russia. Sanctions would have a negative effect on Russia’s economy and perhaps weaken the support for Putin. I believe this is Putin’s fear even if it is not real.

Can their love withstand the sanctions? Tune in tomorrow.
