    Witnessed the exact same thing on a par 3 in Gainesville, TX. Small hawk basically tried to commit suicide. The ball was knocked straight down and played from there. Rub of the green applied. The hawk hopped unto the shrubs; we never knew what finally happened to it.

    I think it was Mickey Mantle once killed a hawk with what should have been a homer. But an outfielder caught the ball and the Mick was out.
