Well… uh… that’s… uh, you know what, I got nothing. See you all on Monday (and hopefully less cannibalism).

Powerful stuff. A story that I’ve been longing to hear. I hope there’s some more to it. Look at the body language. Portia is sitting with her arms folded tightly – she started that in the previous strip. Facing straight ahead toward the whiskey bottle. She’s indicating she is annoyed and feels let down by him. In Panel 2 she softens a bit. He hunches forward and stares into space, picturing the scene in his memory., before focusing on the bottle in Panel 3. By the final panel, Portia’s posture is becoming more relaxed. Close-up of Walt in the foreground, as she sheds a small tear. Portia’s expression has become one of concern. If these were actors, Neathery would be their director, talking them through their roles. But I remind myself they are lines on paper, and the artist/writer is doing it all himself. I love this work.

You do what you have to do. I can understand Walt. When the animal inside comes out……it’s……just leave it at that.

Another thing. This incident with Walt happened after the early medical screening days that Sparkplug was involved with. These were the hazmat guys who became Topsiders

If all that’s required to be a hero is to be drunk, angry, and a big hulking bear, then this world really needs more heroes.

Well, he was a drunk bear at the time. So no wonder he keeps it as a reminder of what can happen.

Not an easy thing to put out of mind. I think Walt will be haunted by that memory for the rest of his life.

On Wednesday, I gave up waiting for End town to post, but go comics wouldn’t let me see the comments Thursday. Don’t know what was wrong, had problems with Facebook that day too, and on You Tube it didn’t save to “watch later”. Did anyone else have any problem yesterday?

Unless you’ve been in a no-holds barred, fist, feet, and even teeth, battle for your life you won’t understand what Walt is going through. Guns, bayonets, stocks used as clubs, then nature’s weapons when all else fails. Entrenching tools, rocks used to smash, teeth to tear, fingers to gouge. It’s hell living through, and even more hell to remember. You’ll never forget the sights, sounds, smells and tastes. Few can forgive themselves. You’ve seen your friends die, you’ve killed up close and in horrible ways. Small wonder there are so many suicides and addictions to drugs and alcohol among combat troops, eh?

@ Pam Miner: Go Comics has got to be one of the glitchiest websites out there. I know they make their money from advertising, but the incredible number of “scripts” they run in order to keep shoving ads in front of our faces (while we are desperately trying to see something else) makes this one of the least pleasant websites to visit, bar none. (It got a little better for a little time after the changeover, but things are pretty much back to what they were before) Regarding your problems with comments, while I haven’t had the problem personally, I have had other problems, though they tend to be temporary.

Thanks to Go Comics, I now set my browser to delete cookies and history each and every time I exit Internet Explorer. It has solved pretty much all the problems I was having with this. I was going to say “and other similarly cluttered websites,” but it occurs to me, there aren’t any other similarly cluttered websites. This one takes the cake!

And now, back to Endtown: Prediction: The incident Walt described above has to do with the werewolves of Endtown! Yes, this specific incident says it dealt with the so-called “topsiders,” but at one time, everyone was a “topsider.” We also know of at least one wolf that seems to have it in for Walt as much as we have been led to believe that wolves have it in for pigs. The pigs may be a cover for getting at Walt. I’m thinking that the Topsider Walt ate may have been related to the troublemaking wolves.

Yes, I know that not all wolves are troublemakers. But I’m thinking that the one(s) who are just may be connected to this incident in some way…

I would have thought they would have perked up with the dustings but fear can make people do stupid things. Like running head on to kill or be killed fighting instead of being lambs to the slaughter. Most just will not do it. we are not trained to do it.

Waiting for today’s (Monday) strip. Walt hasn’t finished telling Portia the story. There were two guards and he just told what happened to the first one. A second death, or did the other guard flee screaming?
