Hey, that’s flat out assault, Dottie! And with witnesses besides your ducky friend, there.

“Ms. Hoss, what can you tell us about charges that you assaulted a customer?”

“Ms. Hoss, the customer your assaulted was a wolf… Do you have anti-wolf sentiments?”

“Ms. Hoss, there are reports that in addition to the battery of one customer, another sustained severe cuts and loss of an eye in the altercation… Care to comment?”

It’s good to see the media practising restraint.

Er, assault is not generally a good way to get an interview.

What is Dottie thinking? Heather was upset enough without being assaulted by the media.

First Dottie criticizes Walter for acting like a vigilante, and now she herself is using bully tactics. And you know she’s going to justify her actions by hiding behind the Freedom of the Press.

I’m kinda wishing that Miss Piggy: Attorney at Law hears about this, just to see her give Dottie a telling-off.

Dottie has changed. People do. sometimes the change is so entirely different that it is hard to believe, like if your long time friend switches political affiliation and it’s like, “Do I even KNOW You?”

“Hoss.” So I guess this answers the question of her species.

This just gets weirder and weirder. I’m starting to feel like either we’ve slipped into some alternate dimension, or this will turn out to be another “maybe it happened, maybe it didn’t” story. Things have seemed off kilter ever since Marx brought everyone back to Endtown at the end of Countdown. Just sayin’… ;-)

On Bonanza, Eric “Hoss” Cartwright was called Hoss because “In the mountain country, that is the name for a big, friendly man.” It had nothing to do with horses.

Species-specific names are mostly chosen names and not birth names. Not everyone has one, and that’s one of the political issues. Some like Jackrabbit do and want everyone else to, too, to accept their animal natures and start anew without the baggage of the past. Others want to remember the past for fear of repeating it, and remember being human. Others like Cooper don’t have a specific species and couldn’t pick a species-specific name if they wanted to.

Mallard is questionable. I think he has a scandalous past and chose a new name to keep people from knowing who he really is, not because he embraces his duckness. For all anyone knows, he may be the one responsible for the mutations, and he wouldn’t want anyone to know.

Could have been Haas and left her a bit of dignity. And, Haas (pronounced “hah-s” is how Lorne Greene said Hoss, anyway. Maybe in Virginia; in Texas it’s hawse.

More than once, it’s been mentioned that that Walt and Dottie are a pair. My question, what kind of pair are they? (Especially since Walt and Portia seem to be becoming a pair)

I always had Dottie pegged as sort of a feisty guinea pig type, but looks like she’s trying out for wolf here. Impressive take down. ;-)
