This strip is not a failure. I enjoy the humour and surrealness of it. This strip is one of my few Must Read strips each day.

I have a hard time coming up with a comment most days. I can’t imagine what it’s like for Teresa to come up with something wonderfully lame for us every day, By the way, unstable people are far more interesting than the stabler variety. Don’t change..About Frog Applause“Frog Applause reminds one of learning to read, in the sense that each word in the captions seems ‘surprising’ and new. Teresa’s writing takes one back to that fresh state of mind (typical of, but of course not limited to, childhood) in which the brain, free of preconceptions, doesn’t ‘fill in’ any blind spots along the way but rather wholly embraces the present moment as it unfolds. Every sentence is literally an imagination-expanding adventure.” — Craig Conley, author of One-Letter Words: A Dictionary (HarperCollins)

Stability is the alpha and omega. Everything in between is resolution of disparity through flow and change. The universe exists by the instability that powers stars and keeps every object in the vastness of space moving in a precision close order drill ballet.Instability is not a problem.Instability is a prerequisite for life. What were we talking about again?

This again? Teresa reminds me of a coworker I once had who kept saying, “Today’s the day I get let go. I just know it. The boss hates me, I just know it.” This went on almost daily for a decade.

Visiting Frog Applause is a daily must-not-miss for me. Teresa knows this (I hope). FA is the only strip that operates at its level of other-worldliness – it has the capacity to derail readers out of the rut (de-rut?) that our lives inevitably slide into. And Teresa: it’s unfortunate, but not everyone’s perceptions and thought processes are up to this exercise.

Enuff with the serious. Frog Applause is good for youse. Never forget it.

(And I miss Frog Blog terribly, too, Old Wolf. You’re not alone.)

Perspective is an important thing. By that I mean it could be worse. You could be Rotifer’s mother.

P.S. My favorite part was, “something irrelevant.”

    Dear Cousin Teresa,

Every day I look at FA and a little voice in my head says, “It’s been years since Teresa sent a check.” Then another voice says, “I’ll bet you forgot underwear again today!” Another begins to yodel the “Messiah.” About then I stop listening.

My question is: how do you know the readership is dropping? At least four of us was here today, but I’m the only one with a keyboard. Most days, all the good parking spots have already been taken, so I (we) just cruise through the drive-through and move on.

I am a reader but not sure if I am a subscriber. I don’t comment because there is no way I could write anything near as interesting as the regulars here – but I do read the strip and all the comments daily. I went into serious FA withdrawal the time the strips stopped coming and hope I never have to go through that again so, please, keep the strips (and the comments) coming.

I’m starting to think that Josh is an insider pretending to be a troll. I was cruising the archives and found this from 2010, http://www.gocomics.com/frogapplause/2010/06/15. Does anyone remember a Josh Lyons from six years ago? I know I don’t.

I’ve been around almost as long as Frog Applause has been on GoComics. I used to comment every day once upon a time. Now I’m lucky if I comment once a year. I’m ashamed of myself for being an invisible fan now. Too bad Teresa can’t see all of her invisible fans. Too bad she doesn’t realize how much love is out here for her, even though we don’t/can’t comment on a regular basis. Maybe Teresa just needs to Feel the Love more often. I know I like to feel loved.

One more thing… commenters who have been around for a while and who have experienced the highs and lows of this strip, tend not to judge Teresa too harshly when her strips aren’t lameworthy enough. Even though Teresa’s talent is formidable, coming up with new content EVERY DAY must be hard on her. It’s difficult to appreciate Frog Applause by sampling only a few strips. Perhaps new readers don’t give the strip a chance. My suggestion for new readers is to peruse the archives.`Also, unlike other comics on this site that tend to be closed off to new blood commenting, the people here are friendly and nice to newcomers.

I’m not sure what the numbers mean. Is it like TV shows, where the highest ratings mean the show has a big audience of people who interest the advertisers? Seriously? The Kardashians and other reality shows are “good” because they’re effective vehicles for commercials? Popular cop shows are “good” because they assure the audience that anything the good guys do is justified? I’ll take Frog Applause any day (and I do) because whatever it is Teresa is doing, it always feels like she respects her readers.

Tommy Quoratz caught the disconnect on the monitors and cut the psychotropics, bringing up the oxygen and damping the neural link system. Two minutes later, Tarina Regina Covhina, who lived by nines and rhymes, was removing the interactive dive gear and standing up to join him at the console to log the session. “This is going nowhere,” Tommy carped. “We’ve been at this for two weeks. He’s got a block going that keeps us from moving forward to the stuff we want to know. The Ideological Purity Committee Chairman says enhanced interrogation is mostly useless, and only these humane methods should be allowed, but even this is clearly useless. The Chairman says anything less sophisticated just makes people say what they think you want to hear, to stop the process, if you can get them talking at all. We may as well call it a failure and give up. This guy reminds me of the ending of Terry Gilliam’s Brazil, with the total psychotic withdrawal. They covered that in interrogation class. They say it is very common.”
