But according to reliable reports from family and neighbors, he wasn’t trapped under the rubble but had simply refused to leave his property after his house was destroyed. He lived alone but his brother had been bringing him food t The man was a severe diabetic and required medical attention and intervention. The Venezuelan rescue team found him in pretty bad shape.“At the time of the rescue, the victim had “chronic renal failure, urinary tract obstruction, he had necrosis in the toes of his left foot and in both ankles with evolution (?) of tissue, in addition to dehydration, malnutrition and disorientation” according to the rescue workers.He’s receiving treatment in a hospital and the prognosis is good, although one or more of the toes will require amputation.
The unfortunate news is that the official death toll has risen to 660 people.,4.605 injured and 22,421 people without homes.
The entire country though, is uniting in giving whatever assistance they can to their stricken neighbors, relatives and compatriots.Estamos un Ecuador !
