Ah, Opal. You have better taste than I thought. I wonder who her favorite character in Downton Abby is? Most probably Dame Maggie Smith as Violet. They are both good at zingers, which wilt anyone’s ego. Opal, you have an Earl in your estate, too!

That show is one of those that gets a lot of attention, but how many people actually watch it? I don’t know anybody that does.

I wonder if she said it with an English accent.

The world of Downton Abbey is contemptible, decadent and moribund. Good riddance to that world, though I feel for the show’s fans.

Go make your own dinner Earl. Opal’s hooked on the greatest show ever. Too bad you’re not as handsome as the Earl of Grantham or as rich or Mrs. Patmore would be cooking for you.

Downton Abbey finished the most recent season months ago. Opal holds on to habits for a long time.

and ebsan, lots of people I know watch it.

My mother was correct about that line. Or maybe it was the “get your hands out of your pocket” one.

I still use my dad’s old American Heritage dictionary. Held together with duct tape. Will always keep it.
