    Angus knew what was coming.

Worse than that, it looks like he intentionally tripped Wally to make it happen.

We now know why Holly looks so much worse off for her captivity than the others.

Despite what they too went through, I am angry with Holly’s fellow prisoners. They were locked in the same cell as she was. It is impossible that she miscarried without their noticing. Where was their support when Holly needed it?

Please don’t take out your feelings about this on Aaron. It’s his story and he has to write it according to his vision, not ours.

Both the issues of miscarriage and suicide are sensitive subjects for myself, made all the more difficult here because I’ve fallen in love with Holly and her relationship with Wally. Despite how devastated I feel, I am still going to be a devout reader to see were things go and to try and understand why this had to happen.

One other comic lost its edge and has never been quite the same after the writer was blasted (mainly by a person with their own, self admitted mental health issues) over the death of a beloved character.

Another comic closed off all ability to comment when some of the readers were outraged over the possibility of one of the characters possibly having a deformed baby.

Lets remember that this is only a comic, albeit a great comic.

Ok, Linda.. Time for you to show up and grab Wally’s legs. Holly introduced you to the clock tower as a place to go sort things out, so we’re hoping you go there too, and arrive in time to save both our friends. Please Aaron, don’t let these two wonderful characters die!

On final post for the night. There’s been some talk about whether there are any new children in Endtown (vs. those who were children when changed).FWIW, Cooper in panel three strongly hints that there are. After all, you don’t refer to “first generation anthros” unless there is more than one generation.

I was wrong so far, I guess we’ll have to count on the couple from panel one to get there in time to do something. No one is going to come in and save them, unless Angus makes it up to the top of the stair in the next few seconds. I think Wally is on his own here.

Approximately half a second to a second of action per panel in this page, covering roughly 2-4 seconds total in-universe time, yet it holds the eye.Aaron, you do tell a good story. (Melkior, you do understate the matter). ;-)

She’s probably malnourished, excessively exhausted, sleep deprived, and severely depressed. Which would explain her irrational state of mind. Wally’s got a whole lotta loving to do on that girl and he’s just the cat to do it.

It’s possible that the others who were incarcerated with Holly know full well what happened, and that’s one reason they’re being so vocal about the appalling conditions.

They’re probably not talking about the miscarriage because they consider that to be a private matter which Holly might not want spoken of. It’s her business to tell about that if she wants to, not theirs.

This is reminiscent of when Wally leapt into the river to save the crook from drowning. And almost died, himself.

The figure apparently kicking up dust in yesterday’s first panel is apparently Petey. That’s not dust, it’s the spiral “speed line” Aaron uses to represent Petey’s propeller flight motion.

Beefsteak anyone? In reviewing this arc, it seems that Jacob’s scheme wouldn’t have gone anywhere if Maude hadn’t picked him for their defense, ignoring Holly’s objection.Doubly suspicious is that, unlike the situation of the cake, Holly’s cheese supply wasn’t public knowledge. For her to have been arrested for having cheese also points to Maude (excuse the term) ratting her out.If indeed Maude is part of Jacob’s conspiracy and, worse yet, implicated Holly, I suggest that she graduate from offering people milk to offering them beefsteak.

I had thought that we would be plunging into Holly’s backstory soon. It would be terrible for her to share it in the same “limbo” that Flask did. From the look of things right now both her and Wally could be there at the same time.

He has a one finger grip and a one foot hold with a loose hanging body and hanging head down. Even if she only weights 25 pounds her weight is going to become a strain in about 2 minutes. So if he pulls this off the local Endtown Circus will probably offer him a job as a trapeze artist or the next strong man. He can’t swing her to the side and over the rail without falling off himself. Choices to be made. And Friday “rail” hanger comes.

Linda couldn’t have made it to the tower yet. Holly took off running when they were all standing at the lift and kept running except for slowing down when she passed a hanging Allgood and a very brief stop at her house. It’s already been established that nobody can catch Holly. Wally’s probably pretty fast but I think he only caught her before because she let him.

So, the best anybody can do, assuming they’re not wrapped up in their own problems, would be to catch up with them right about now…

On the subject of “everybody dies.” I’ve never been fond of works where the writer kills off a character “because he can.” I see it as cheating the reader, raising up emotional involvement only to dash it onto the floor—-and it’s bad business, besides.#On the other hand, a carefully set-up life could lead to a meaningful death in the context of the story. I wouldn’t say the deaths we’ve seen [on stage] in the Saga of Endtown have been without meaning..Ed and Leo die to save Wally…Doug’s death sets in motion a course of action about what to to with Linda…Mr. Hopper’s death brings Linda back to life…Spike’s death brings into relief the danger of the situation…Ally’s death brings closure to her life…Allgood’s death is the inevitable result of his compassion. (It’s far from certain if Flask actually died.)#Would the deaths of Holly and maybe Wally have meaning? Oh, probably…but it’ll have to wait.

I generally like my stories on the warm and fuzzy side with out the pain and death, but there are times when a story is stronger when that happens. The final battle in the original “Star Wars” film was even more tense because of the number of pilots, including Luke’s friend Biggs, who bought the farm, particularly on that trench run. The two characters who died on “Serenity” helped drive home how serious the situation was and helped ratchet up the tension even further. For me the deaths in “Endtown” are like that. They can be draining but we are dealing with a post civilization world where everybody is hurting and anything can happen. I feel that the story wouldn’t be as good if Aaron pulled his punches.

So I’m presuming Wally will spend the next strip struggling to hold on with his foot, where so much strain and will begin to lose that grip as his foot goes over the edge aaaaaaaaand……cliffhanger. All aside, my heart is in my mouth.

When you suspend disbelief and embrace a writer’s world-vision as your own, then you must accept where the paths in that world may take you.Death is a part of life – sad but true.Killing a character for no story-promoting reason is the mark of a poor storyteller and Aaron has shown time and again that he is a very good storyteller. I Holly/Wally must die then there is a reason for it. I do not believe they will die for they have become major characters in the main plotline, BUT it is for Aaron to decide and we must just observe…

Speculation, and understand I was half-right one time.Neither of Wally’s knees are one the diagonal support yet. His only support is his instep on the top railing. If he gets a free hand on a better hold, he can swing Holly up to the deck. If she does not act to save Wally, she would be guilty of causing another death, and saving him buys her a little redemption. Or, he could swing her up to the observation deck and tickle his feet. Probability > 0, but not likely at all.Or someone else could save them, but this reminds me too much of those stupid trust building exercises from work. I really believe, prolly hope, Wally will save Holly, and she will pull his sweaty hide from Death.JusSayinPSVOTE AND DONATE Those who have been here awhile may remember “the cat and mouse that live” in Aaron’s head should expect he’ll find a way to save them both. As coyoty said earlier Panel 1 yesterday could be Petey. Who has any reason to hurry in Endtown, unless it’s really important.
