For all the drama and comedy, Luann is written as a good human being. I hope Greg has written a good future for her; I would enjoy seeing Quill as part of it.

You can tell this is a comic, she’s gotten past the security and screening areas into the boarding lounges. That can’t happen anymore. :( ^One possibility is that it’s not the actual gates, but the corridors that direct boarders to the staging areas and then the actual gates… The airport here has that style, with security before the actual boarding gate areas, and the signs that direct people to which stations to go to for the “security check” before those actual gates…. and on the one side, certain areas where people waiting can shop and eat while waiting for arrivals/departures, and those boarding also have a “shopping mall” and other services as they board and arrive on the other side….

…Last time I flew international… ^Yeah, that’s right… the “big wait” once they stuff you into the “winged tube”….Well, even if there’s a line, maybe their checkpoints are close to the gates, where you can see them, still.. the one in my area is like that, where even at the international, you can get a glimpse of stuff, but you just can’t go through them… maybe it’s like the “goodbye” gathering last week… that we have to imagine that the checkpoints are just ahead…. like I said, at my airport, it’s not the biggest building, though they are rated as a national/international hub…=One other possibility is that they announce the “boarding”, but it’s understood that that’s the warning to get in line, and it’s still in the whole process of security checks and passenger boarding, and then the final call where after that time, no more can board, as they shut the plane’s doors…=One last straw is that Qucumber was an agile Association footballer back home, or maybe a rugy enthusiast, and does the Austrailian version of OJ in the old “Hertz” commercials..

He believes he will return, even though he said, “I hope.” He doesn’t know if he can count on his parents, but he can count on himself, someday. So, yes, Quill will return. Luann represents most females who has had to have faith in what her man promised. It is a poignant experience for us all to revisit.

On a lighter note, I used to work in a Travel Agency, so I can tell you QA 312, operates between Ports Moresby Papua New Guinea, and Sydney, NSW and it’s approximately a 4 hours flight. So now we know, LuAnn and the gang live in Papua New Guinea.

I never thought of that, you’re right. You only get to the gate if you have a boarding pass since 9/11. On top of that, it’s an international flight, so he’d have to go through the INS Checkpoint. JPuzzle, we’re overly analyzing, but that’s ok. :)

@Donny – responding to your comment yesterday. the future of the strips is NOT newsprint, hence the fear of being dropped doesn’t carry the clout it once did. Universal, Creators, etc. are not investing heavily in digital content for our amusement only. Akin to cable TV, content providers are no longer just a small handful of power centers. The syndicates, in opening up to the Net are reaching well beyond traditional borders and taste barriers. While good taste is still fashionable, Evans is still wayyy on the safe side of sensitive issues.

“Or sailing the S. S. Minnow for a “three-hour tour”!^Lol! Maybe Greg could do that, where he gets Quill stranded in a situation with a “Gilligan” type, etc. and Luann wakes up and realizes it was a dream, “Dallas” style…
prof2 over 10 years ago
For as much as I’ve tired of the drama for Luann, I have to agree that Greg’s handling this long distance relationship thing pretty well. Doesn’t mean I don’t want it to stop…I definitely want it to end, tired of seeing Luann hurting all the time. I do think that Quill has proven himself to be serious about her..have him back in the fall as a permanent character. Time for them to be together.
Argy.Bargy2 over 10 years ago
If you’ve listened closely to the lyrics of ‘Waterfall’, you’d realize that most of the characters in the song die because they push themselves past their ‘natural limits’ So are you suggesting that Luann will die unless she sticks with the waterfall (Gunther) that she’s used to? Seems a bit harsh.
Argy.Bargy2 over 10 years ago
Dunno where you learned your Aussie slang, but I’ve always been told that g’day (gud-eye) is used day or night, as a greeting, but never means ‘farewell’. So stop your yabbor, Quill is a fair dinkum Aussie…

Ha ha ha! So true! =Also as an Interesting aside, even Al has felt the thumbscrews placed on him by corporate, and some songs he put out were not out of his choosing…. He says that he never liked “Girls Just Want to Have Lunch”, but the label wanted to see a Cyndi Lauper song on it, as she was on the charts at the time, so he says he was put under compulsion to pen that one….

I am hoping Luann’s hope of seeing Quill in September comes true…if not, perhaps he will save his own money from a job he gets with his father’s firm (a “summer” intern, albeit paid) and will get on That Jet Plane back to her… and also, perhaps, to a local community college with a notable drama program…(this would solve the whole high school thing).

I too want to see a Tiffany story – who paid for her drama camp tuition? Did that person also arrange for the drama camp to double as a modeling agency, so that Tiffany could get the picture frame job? Is Elwood behind this, or MasterDad, or who?
As for Quill, he’s halfway through his senior year in Australia. If his parents let him pull out with so little time left before graduation and then let him spend another year attending high school in the USA (at who knows what expense) just so that he can hang out with Luann and (mainly) Gunther, then they’re completely nuts.

This comes from Songfacts.com : “Chasing Waterfalls” is TLC’s way of expressing how people chase intangible dreams with no thought of the consequences. The first verse is talking about an inner city mother and son relationship. He is chasing “waterfalls” (money and respect by dealing drugs), but his mother knows this can only lead to a bad end. The second verse is talking about a man’s relationship with a woman. His “waterfall” is casual sex. The lyrics say that he has a “natural obsession for temptation.” This could mean he is cheating on someone or the woman he is seeing is cheating on someone. Either way, he contracts HIV and dies (“three letters took him to his final resting place”). TLC were big on AIDS awareness – Left Eye would often wear condoms attached to her clothes and in her glasses to promote safe sex.
Cee-Lo Green sang backup on this. He’s well-known as a songwriter and producer, and as a member of Goodie Mob and Gnarls Barkley. Cee-Lo recalled to The Guardian newspaper March 22, 2008: “I was working at the same studio and of course I know the girls too, because we were on the same label, so they just asked me. I didn’t realize at the time what a big song it was going to be.”
JayBluE over 10 years ago
Wikipedia:
For the 20th anniversary of the group they collaborated with the famous Japanese singer Namie Amuro and recorded a new version of the song, in 2013.
The music video was filmed at Universal Studios Hollywood from June 8–9, 1995 and it was directed by F. Gary Gray and features Ella Joyce, Bokeem Woodbine, Shyheim, Paul J. Alessi and Gabrielle Bramford. The song and video tackle the issues of drug dealing and HIV, two problems plaguing the inner cities. A young man (played by Shyheim) is going against his mother’s advice to stop selling drugs, and is killed before a drug deal. In between the scenes, they show a couple and the woman convinces him to not use protection. Afterwards, he looks in the mirror and sees he has an early symptom of AIDS on his face, in the form of Kaposi’s sarcoma. He then sees a small picture frame on the dresser which displays all the people she has had sex with previously. The video also shows intercut scenes of the group performing the song while standing on top of an ocean and liquid bodies of them performing the song while in front of a real waterfall. At the end of the video, the young man appears. He tries to reach out to his mother as she is walking up the stairs to her house, but he disappears. The couple both fade away, as they both die from AIDS.

I never appreciated the Aaron character. It seemed like he didn’t quite understand what was happenin. He didn’t have the intellectual quality and maturity of Quill. Sort of epitomized the saying “He’s a brick short of a full load”. Seems Greg had to retire him to develop Luann’s personality.
