Legally, Rat is probably right. You can receive any transmission or sound that’s open and it’s Bob’s onus to prevent his wi-fi from receiving Rat’s signal.

Goat is right to note the hypocrisy in Rat’s attitude that what’s yours is mine if I can get it, but you’d better not touch my stuff! Rat would not last long in ruthless real life….

Rat should keep his shovel locked up.

In Finland they made it legal to use any unprotected WiFi. The number of unprotected WiFi’s dropped pretty soon.

I have to agree with Rat on this one, if it’s floating around in your airspace then you should have the right to access it.

I’m just wondering if anyone that has commented realized this a comic strip? I find it hilarious, because I can relate every character to someone in my family!!!

Just because it is floating around does not mean it is yours, here in Utah the rain falling from the sky is owned by the state. You cannot save or collect the water, it is not yours…thus the same could be applied to anything in the air.

Yes they do actually fine people for collecting rain water to later use to water their gardens and such, yet they won’t pay for roof damage cause by the states water.

Best bet is to secure your internet, then if someone hacks in you’d have a legal remedy, although I do know people who intentionally leave theirs open so they can hack into anyone who uses it to steal their identity and personal information, or just install malware, etc on the offending computers if they have nothing useful.

Open wifi could very well be a trap.

None of my neighbors have WiFi. Not that I would tap into it if they did.

    Stay out of it, Goat.

Let Rat suffer on his own when Bob catches him.

Does it really matter? One of these days internet is going to be 100% free just like radio.

First, if the person’s wifi signal isn’t locked, and you can access it, that isn’t stealing, much like wifi on busses or at a resteraunt., but if Bob took the shovel without asking, then it isn;t borrowing, it IS stealing.

Rat’s got a point. If it’s in the air, hey. That’s why bob should get protection LOL
