Ummm, Mom and Dad, there’s a thing called antiviral programs; they self-update and protect against new viruses. Get with the 21st century; it’s only been twelve years!

Ah, Luann, Luann, Luann….the ups and downs of childhood friendships. You should be grateful Tiff tells you things that your other friends don’t. Like the good book says, ‘Faithful and True are the Wounds of a Friend’…

It teaches a better way, treating others as we would like to be treated, loving others as ourselves, beware of wolves in sheep’s clothing, test claims, don’t murder each other, provide fair trials, care for the poor, don’t steal.. All kinds of good things

Well said. DavidHueyGreen. Sounds like Ken read it cover to cover, as he implies. True, some things in the Old Testament are hard to take, but they were necessary for that time and place. Is there ANYTHING that the Bible quotes Jesus as saying or doing, with which you have a problem?

How about a story line where Luann’s mom has an affair? Or where Luann’s dad thinks she’s having an affair?

Tiffany’s last name is Farrell— assumedly a bit of wordplay by the strip’s creator.

It might be interesting to know Frank’s occupation— I’ll speculate that he is an accountant, possibly employed by an insurance or real estate company.

What do people in import/export do? Frank never goes abroad so he’s not a what-do-you-call-them, a finder? He has to be an accountant. Nothing wrong with that—my dad was an accountant. He did the income taxes of half the families in my small town when I was growing up. He was also was one of the town eccentrics. And he was kind of bald, like Frank. Accountants are cool. Ask my mom and Nancy.

Lev, I like your idea that Frank’s a CIA operative and for all we know, he might be! Or maybe he’s a Russian operative in deep cover, planted in the USA when he was 20 and Nancy has no idea.

I gathered that import/export people import and export, but I just don’t know how such a business operates or what his role in the business might be. Were furniture and appliances specified in the strip you referenced?

I’d like to see the arc if you can find it, Lev. I don’t remember it at all from my read through the archives, so no idea where to look. Thanks!

I will gladly support the CIA connection. There’s no way we would know if it’s not true. :-) I think he’s a recruiter, and he’s already recruited Elwood and TJ. He has his eye on Gunther and Bernice and will recruit them once they’re in college.

Frank imports potato chips and exports diapers. But he’s been thinking of giving up the exporting, and just concentrating on the importing. I’m surprised that Art Vandelay didn’t know that.

Reminds me of a tale in which friends teased a beauty about her last date endng with the gentleman announcing he is gay. The teasers accused her of turning him against ALL women..The gentleman rescued her pride when he explained that if he couldn’t find himself arroused by HER then he MUST be gay.
