The 13/12/14 notation is chiefly British: month/day/year. The conflict between American and British date notation causes endless confusion Canada which is caught in the middle.

Some companies will date your receipt 12/13/14, others 13/12/14. A week ago it was 12/06/14 vs 06/12/14. Try sorting those when you do after-the fact bookkeeping.

In In the sensible parts of the world the date is 2014-12-13 (year/month/day), the only numerical date format that will sort chronologically. You can use hyphens, slashes, spaces or no punctuation at as long as you are consistent.

Still, it’s a good example of phenomena that are noticed because of some meaningless feature but are no more significant than any other of the kind. Jesus on toast, etc. .(Also, your life.)

Thank God… I thought we were talking math computations and I would have to take my shoes and socks off… lessee… 12-13-14, do the first part first, 12-13=-1, then the second part -1-14, and two negatives make a positive, so the date could be written as 15, is that right? I never could understand geometry and algebra…

    :)

I can remember where I was at 3:45 pm on June 7, 1989.[3:45 6-7-89]. No place exciting, however. Now 10:11 12-13-14 has come and gone, and I was still no place exciting. The sign of a wasted life.

Actually in computer speak it is 2014.12.13. And don’t argue the point, just think about the old file drawer thing. The drawer is marked 2014, the file is 12 (or December) , and the days are each a separate sheet in that file. Sometimes we forget that the computer is programed by people!

Well here in the US its sequential in Europe it would be 13-12-14, and not to crap on your parade any more than your “loving” wife has Brutus, but this date will happen again in 2114. Although it is an interesting bit of Birthday trivia for me, I got through almost the entire day and it didn’t even cross my mind
