Can we imagine that this is a good thing… gone way too far? Because people, in addition to having stupidity, need to have enthusiasm or they won’t make it through the long haul.

I’m sensing a pattern here.

You get your culture beat up if your country has white people. You get put in concentration camps, beaten and shot if your country does not.

Although I hope performance venues of most Russian music itself will not suffer, no doubt there will be tensions among individual non-Russian musicians toward those who depend on Russian state sponsorship and politicized conservatories. Will the various international musical competitions and festivals now be affected?

White people have been known to be favored guests in concentration camps. Nazi ones, and British ones (Transvaal and Orange Free State). The British ones were women and children only, mostly, and the British have the honor of being the first to come up with the idea, as far as I know.

Very good and relevant cartoon, I observed the same thing. People cancelling Russian operas and banning Russian Blue cats should be slapped. They are NOT helping the situation.

“Russian” things aren’t the problem. There are Russian people protesting this war and being rounded up and thrown in jail (possibly never to be seen again). They are risking their LIVES to protest this war. The Russian government is a problem. The Russian military is a problem and Putin is a problem. All blame, anger, and retaliation should be pointed at them.

There are so many more examples that you could have included… too bad you only have four panels to work with. How about all the hate towards American citizens of Chinese descent because of COVID? Vandalism against stores and shops that appeared to have a Chinese influence skyrocketed.

Hmmmm I’m guessing it’s getting harder for Rall to get paid by Sputnik.

Cancel culture is usually pretty stupid; as I recall, former president Theodore Roosevelt, when we entered World War I, argued for the cessation in the USA of all teaching of the German language. Also, in 1942 the US government gave authorization to regional military commands to round up suspected enemy aliens, which included German and Italian immigrants. They declined to do this, but only the regional commander on the West Coast ordered the internment of all Japanese-Americans.

What about the oligarchs, Ted, can graffiti their yachts?:
