Um…I know you love to equate the two main parties, Mr. Rall, but Obama did NOT:
- Compromise our entire system of government by his lack of appointments and executive orders
- Promote vast amounts of pollution (e.g., coal)- Appoint enemies of the environment to “protect” it
- Appoint enemies of consumers to “protect” them (Obama proposed Warren!)
- Set up concentration camps at the border, separating parents and treating camp inhabitants as inhuman
- Sell out our government to the Russians, Saudis, and right-wing billionaires, or indeed anyone who pays enough at a Trump property
- Work to destroy women’s rights, especially reproductive rights
- Actively promote violent racism and white supremacy (seen his new campaign logo? It’s taken from a white nationalist group, and based on a Mussolini quotation)
- Prevent action being taken against domestic, white-nationalist terrorists
- Destroy the economy by ignorant and foolish use of tariffs
But sure, make it look like they are equally bad, but Obama was just politer about it. I have my criticisms of Obama, but this is just ridiculous!
Obama partisans truly worry me. There is no evidence at all that he ever tried or even wanted to do anything for anyone but the rich. None! It’s okay for children below a certain age to deny reality and make up fantasies that they like better, but it’s definitely unhealthy for adults to do it when there are real-world consequences.
Sure, to a lot of people, Obama might very well seem to have been, say, a “Centrist Republican” from maybe 40 years ago or so. But in this era, he is definitely on the left. And yes, it is unfortunate that he didn’t go after the banksters more than he did. That was definitely a mistake. And yes, I did NOT support what he was doing in Afghanistan, in particular, but I understood it. If he had pulled out of there, the blowback by roughly half the country would have been deafening. I mean, just look at what happened to him that one day he wore that tan suit—which BTW I thought looked quite nice on him. Obama was NOT PERFECT, but he was certainly an infinite number of times better than the current Orange Menace occupying the White House, at least IMO. And to say otherwise is VERY disingenuous.

Y’know, most of us reach some level of recognition of reality by the time we mature. We begin to understand that we don’t have all the perfect answers, so we just try to do the best we can in the context of the society.
President Obama “droned” more than Bush2 because the technology was that much more advanced. Every sortie was conducted under the rules of engagement, and required the approval of a JAG lawyer. No “innocent brown people” were killed. Only the enemy of the U.S was killed. The use of drones save U.S. lives.
Pelosi advised the new president that going after the ones on Wall Street who crashed the economy would further hurt this country. Obama accepted her advice, and together they put in new regulations.
Obama and Holder decided that the illegal immigration problem would best be solved by going after those who employed illegals. They saw that when Bush2 crashed the economy in 2007, and we were hemorrhaging jobs, illegals left for elsewhere. It was working. Agents worked 9-5 5 days a week going to businesses, costs went way down, and the nu,ber of illegals dropped. Republican/conservatives in congress are the ones who put a stop to that program and pushed for illegals to be deported.
But complaining about Obama seems to me to be a Russian thing, loudest by those employed by the Russians.
These days the only substantial difference between neoliberal Democrats and Republicans (they both treat us like dogs) is that the Democrats will occasionally throw us a treat after stroking us and mouthing empty words. Many powerful Democrats apparently want to continue that philosophy with Biden.
The “rude crap” said by Trump includes repeated statements that incite violence against ethnic minorities. The example you give in the comic is a standard anti-Semitic slur. White nationalists are using Trump’s words as justification for mass shootings and hate crimes.
But something something Obama something Clinton. They’re all the same, right?
