Holly: Do you see Gramma yet?
Alix: I see a taxi.
Holly: That's probably HER!
Alix: Gramma! Gramma!
Holly: Alix??
WHOOP!
Alix: OW OW OW
Alix: Is that OW you need a Band-Aid, or OW you need an ambulance?
Having fallen out a second story window when I was three, landing in a rose bush and not being hurt…plus having fallen and broken both wrists at the same time, I think I can truthfully say that you don’t feel anything because you are in shock.
At nine (or ten now?) I’m sure she knows a lot of the proper words, but may not be fluent enough to use them properly in this situation. Her experience is probably saying them then giggling with her friends about it.
I took one last week that landed me in the hospital for 4 days. And yes, I was saying ow all the way to the hospital in the ambulance. Broken arm, broken wrist, and one pi**ed off ole lady. lol But my ribs are only sore and are fine. Will be out of here in no time, unless they decide to take out the funky gall bladder while I am here and take away the oxygen mask that they have had me on since my last hospitaliztion a few weeks ago.
This reminds me a little bit of the time Joan left Holly to baby-sit Alix, and Holly performed a successful Heimlich on Alix. Did that happen, or am I confabbing? Can’t find with brief search via Google.
When I was around 4 or 5 I fell while playing “Follow the leader” and my head went through a window, needing many stitches in my scalp. I recovered just fine and had other minor injuries through childhood. I also nursed my kids through many-no prob!

Maybe it’s an “ow” for ambulance personally. (Hope Alix is okay.)

Well, at least Gramma is back (and will play nurse).

A cast will ruin camp!

If something was broken I think she would have said more than “ow”!!

A couple of leaves are flying upward in the last panel. Maybe she fell into a bush, or a small tree? Something has probably broken her fall.

Poor Alix so excited and takes a fall. I hope she does not get hurt too badly for science camp.
georgiiii about 12 years ago
If someone is screaming right after it happens they aren’t hurt too badly. Quiet is bad.

I think she needs to go to the hospital.
opentomeet about 12 years ago
Perhaps she landed on the taxi, or even Gramma?? the presumption is that all the ‘ows’ are from Alix!!

A couple years ago, little baby Max fell out of the tree! The concussion gave him (temporarily) the gift of speech.
