    The “V” formation is energy saving, about a 40% saving that’s why they periodically break off from the front and the next in line takes over “breaking a path” and doing the brunt of the work.So they may not be greater than you but they ARE smarter.

    For the half or so of you that aren’t mathematically inclined, the V formation represents the “Greater Than” sign and the two parallel lines represents the “Equals” sign.
