You cannot fix stupid. Do I think that kids are over vaccinated in some things? Yes. However one has to look at the trade off here. But that’s OK.
We have a family member that refuses to vaccinate her children……after the first one developed Autism which she swears is from the vaccines. No talking with her about it. At all.
Did you see the posts where kids are asking the Internet how to get vaccinated without their parents’ consent? Those poor kids are a LOT smarter than their idiot parents.
It is another part of the anti-scientific, pro-ignorance attitude we see so much of in American life today, often fed by politicians benefiting from it (notably the GOP’s denial of global warming, the dangers of pollution, etc.) that anyone should doubt the effectiveness of vaccination, which has had stupendous success saving lives.
Are there dangers of vaccinating? Very, very few. It’s an odds-on bet that it will do more for you kids than any risk. And autism is NOT one of those risks, and never has been. It’s been proved decisively – wasting the time of researchers who already knew better than the ex-doctor arrested for fraud for his claims thereof. That guy has a lot to answer for.
Oh, and for history buffs, vaccination and proto-vaccination approaches have been in use for nearly three hundred years – and one advocate was Cotton Mather, for all the “godly” folks… https://www.kidnurse.org/history-of-vaccines/
People don’t know what life was like before vaccinations. I’m old enough to remember the days before the polio vaccine. When we teach history, part of the curriculum should be medical history. History isn’t just battles and kings and queens, it’s how people have lived. And childhood diseases were a big part of life—and death.
It might be cruel, but the only way to cure the “anti-vaxxers” is the same way that you would cure hemophilia. You let them die out. In a generation or two, problem solved.
I’m old enough to have contracted, and gotten past, Measles before there was a vaccine. It was, according to my family at the time, just one of those diseases children caught, and got over; like Chicken Pox. It was only later, as an adult, that I learned how dangerous Measles can be to populations with no previous contact with it. I’m not sure how dangerous it is now, to the general population, in terms of mortality, but the emotional response to its current spread is probably exaggerated. this isn’t Ebola we’re talking about.

“Vaccines cause adults.”

The issue is not what you want for your own children.
The issue is that your children may come in contact with infants or toddlers too young to have been vaccinated.
By exercising your “right”, you may well condemn someone else’s child to a lifelong disability or even death.

That’s because you survived those diseases. Some do and some don’t.
