With a state of emergency still in place in DC in the wake of the failed insurrection, the FBI has warned of further unrest being planned to coincide with Joe Biden’s inauguration on 20 January, prompting the National Guard to treble its presence in the American capital.
The president is visiting Alamo in Texas on Tuesday for his first public appearance since the shocking scenes on Capitol Hill as his deputy, Mike Pence, faces an ultimatum from Democrats: move to oust Mr Trump by invoking the 25th Amendment of the Constitution or he will face a second impeachment vote in the House of Representatives.
I’m not questioning the removal from Twitter and Facebook. My question is: why did it take 4 years for the platforms to realize that Trump’s threats and hate speech violated “terms of service?”
Is he going to drop the bomb if a hurricane hits Mar-A-Logo ? That was his best idea yet, but the military wouldn’t let him. Gave him a map and a Sharpie instead.
He might have the codes, but he CANNOT ORDER a Nuclear strike without Military Justification. There ARE several layers of protection between him and the officers with the ACTUAL AUTHORITY to launch any missiles. In other words… he can rant, and rave, and scream and froth at the mouth, but he CANNOT launch a Nuke strike by himself!
The questions are where and when. There is no check and balance when it comes to launching the nuclear weapons. He had installed many loyalist leaders in the Pentagon. The Democrats have to act fast since the GOP refuses to do anything.
The decision to launch a strike requires the President to work with military aides possessing the materials he needs to order an attack, as well as personnel at all levels, from top commanders all the way down to service members working in the missile silos. Current and former defense officials have also insisted that the military does not blindly follow orders from the President, noting there are layers of checks and balances intended to safeguard against a President unlawfully ordering a nuclear strike.But the reality is that the only basis for interfering with a direct order is if it’s illegal, immoral or unethical. And there is a widely held belief among military commanders that they must resign if they are unable to carry out a legal order. The really scary part is so long as Trump remains in office, he retains the legal authority to solely launch some or all of America’s nuclear weapons until 12:01pm on January 20, or until he is removed from office.
More than one recent study has shown a large drop in misinformation about election fraud on social media now that Trump has been banned. This just confirms the dereliction of public duty of social media companies. It’s rage-inducing to think what a difference it might have made to inflaming the divisions and white supremacy in this country – and the unnecessary deaths and suffering from the pandemic – had the social media platforms long ago consistently and immediately squelched any tweet/post of his that contained false, misleading, and/or racist content, which they easily could have done just based on their standard rules of conduct.

Most people think that he’s slightly demented.
He called for his lap dogs, his toadies and thugs,

Republican judges said “no” to his case,

He called up officials to give him more votes.
They told him he’s wrong and referred to their notes.
His giant brain came up with an idea so vile,
It made him feel better than he had for a while.
He gathered a mob filled with Nazis and such,
It seems quite bizarre, but he is out of touch.
He met them and praised them and told them to fight.
He is really unable to tell wrong from right.
His family partied while they watched the attack,
As usual he and his cronies stayed safely in back.
Democracy bruised, it continued its work —
