There is a story at the back of my mind that I’d like to write, but just never got it written. There is also a book or two both of haiku (one of regular haiku and the other being haiku about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) both of which I’d like to have published if I get a goal of 100 haiku for each written; only got some written.
I actually have written a book! It isn’t a novel, but it’s a chapter book for kids – kids around the age of those who would read Beverly Cleary books about Henry Higgins and Ramona and Beezus, etc. It’s loosely based on myself, a story about a girl who is sort of shy and insecure, who is picked on and bullied by other girls in her class and it shows how she deals with the bullies. She tends to daydream in class a lot (I did a lot of that and I was picked on and bullied a lot too). I used a bit of comedy in the story (such as when the class is given a writing assignment to write limmericks – I had a lot of fun writing those!) and I tried to add in some lessons on coping with bullies. I would love to have it published, but I don’t really know how to go about doing that. My dream pretty much ever since I learned how to read was to someday become a published author. Writing was always my best subject in school and my teachers always encouraged me to keep on writing and they sometimes told me I should write a book. Too bad they never told me how to get one published.
Find out which publishers publish books similar to yours/aimed at the same target group, and then look at their websites for guidelines for sent-in manuscripts and addresses. Good luck!
I wrote a novel about why the number four comes after the number three. I think it’s a page turner. My wife refuses to read it. She says she hates math…
If she would stop spending time writing that list, she could probably do some of those things. Of course, there are people who sell books of lists like that

Stick with “probably.” She may write one next week which is so popular that a movie is brought out a few months later. (Probably not, but possibly.)

I wrote a book about all the wisdom I’ve accumulated in my life. All the publishers suggested I wait to publish until I have a second page. ;-)

She should write a selection of quotes: “Stupid Advice from My Husband”.

Get writing Opal, and don’t let Earl see it until it’s published!
