My mother is annoyed that November always gets the bad rap, since her birthday is in November (tomorrow, in fact). This strip would be a perfect example.
Where I live, November rains are a blessing. Of course our summer temps can top 45ºC for days on end with ease. We haven’t had much rain this fall…which means no cool weather and lots of insect life that should be asleep, but has hatched out.
In New Mexico we have dry season and muddy season, Missouri has tick season. But here in NY we have summer tourist season, where our bucolic local roads become and 8 week orgy of squealing tires, flared tempers, crumpled metal, and huge swing in people suddenly believing in god.We are thankful when they go home..
My only complaint about November rain is that, with all of the leaves, it makes walking hazardous and slippery…even more so than ice. Add to that fact that I’m naturally clutzy and my older daughter has a genetic balance problem…let’s just say it’s not pretty.
For those interested, just saw the Peanuts movie trailer on YouTube. I want to like it, but it doesn’t quite “feel” like Peanuts to me. It’s being released by FOX, and it clearly has some of the Ice Age style to it. My 2¢, anyway.
Somehow I don’t think Schulz would approve of what’s being done to his characters. (I can imagine Dr. Seuss being so outraged at the live action “Cat in the Hat” that he would’ve put everybody involved in the ZOO!)
“No warmth, no cheerfulness, no healthful ease,No comfortable feel in any member -No shade, no shine, no butterflies, no bees,No fruits, no flowers, no leaves, no birds -November!”- Thomas Hood
@Night-Gaunt49Schulz sold out, true, but he was in control of his own selling out. That’s the difference. If I had a hit comic strip I would license my characters to appear on calendars, greeting cards, tee shirts, coffee mugs, and things like that. But I would never let them sell cars or insurance or anything that wasn’t mostly about THEM.

In Washington State, they have only two seasons: Winter and Rainy, though they never tell you which is which…

November rains are almost as chilling as November snow.

What about Winter snow?

Climate change with our warming temps will bring some areas more snow. Wish it was our High Sierra. We are desperate for moisture in the southwest.

I’d rather deal with november rain than the November Snow Storm that’s currently at my door.

I love the rain but only for one reason: When I’m inside the house, all cosy and warm.

Around my neck of the woods, November rains are snow. And snow means ski season is in sight, woo hoo!
