Aunt Fritzi: Time for your medicine, Nancy.
Nancy: Ugh.
Aunt Fritzi: Go on inside and TAKE it. Be sure to take a whole spoonful.
Nancy: O.K.
Box reads: TOY TEA SET
Literalism isn’t going to help Nancy any more than it did me. When I was six years old, I wasn’t behaving my best so my dad made me go to my room with the order, “Now don’t you be coming out this door.” I eventually looked at the bedroom window and thought, “He didn’t say anything about that,” so I removed the screen and climbed out. Dad was not impressed with my early grasp of specificity…and I thought adults were supposed to be the smart ones.

You’ve done it now, Nancy. You’re not getting enough medicine so the illness will spread across your body and you will DIE!!
