I think I have figured out Donald Trump’s role in this pre-election season..In “The Power of Myth,” his six-part interview with Bill Moyers, Joseph Campbell talks of the clown, or “trickster” gods of certain religions:.“There’s a wonderful story in some African tradition of the god who’s walking down the road, and the god has on a hat that is colored red on one side and blue on the other side. So when the people, the farmers in the field go into the village in the evening, they said, “Did you see that fellow, that god with the blue hat?” And the others said, “No, no, he had a red hat on,” and they get into a fight..“… He even makes it worse by first walking along this direction, and then turning around and turning his hat around, so that again, it’ll be red and black or whatever and then when these two chaps fight and are brought before the king or chief for judgment, this fellow appears and he says, “It’s my fault, I did it. Spreading strife is my greatest joy.”
He’s just a garden variety entitled, rich bigot whose Daddy gave him millions of dollars. That makes him the perfect Republican candidate. A small consolation is that he’d be completely ineffectual in dealing with congress, like Paul LePage up in Maine. But I’d rather get a president who could actually accomplish worthwhile things, not just a president who can’t accomplish stupid, destructive things.
This cartoon is disgusting. It implies that Luckovich doesn’t think any Hispanics are legal. Trump says send the illegal immigrants home (A position with which I agree). Nobody is saying send all minorities home.
My guess is that many Americans are unhappy about the inequities in society and the usual political promises sound quaint and offer no real hope. The immigrants, poor, and elderly are not viewed biblically as our obligation, but rather as burdens on society weakened by globalization and automation. Without expensive,unaffordable college degrees, there are more applicants than there are jobs and the new jobs that are available don’t pay as much as the old jobs that were sent offshore. Trump’s anger, however undefined it might be, is the emotion –-that a withering majority, fearful of their approaching minority status—- identifies strongly with.

Italians had their time to be hated, likewise the Irish, then came Chinese who built our railroads and mines, then got banned, and of course xenophobia after 12/7/41 saw the Constitution burned for Japanese CITIZENS!
In case you haven’t been paying attention folks, Trump hasn’t always been very careful about distinguishing between legal & illegal immigrants. His rhetoric certainly is playing well to the white supremacists.

Best way to reduce illegal immigration is to severely punish those who hire them. Trump hires illegals for his golf courses and hotels.
