One: Biden has said in the past that it’s a bad idea; and he’s simply NOT saying either way, now, so as not to piss off the folks who want to “fix” the GOP-packed court… and in any case the President cannot do it by himself.
Two: “Sleepy Joe” is a base canard, invented by a sociopathic narcissist liar.
Three: He is ahead. And if you stick your periscope back out of the anal sphincter around your neck, you will notice that he’s running… with some success… in states where it had previously seemed impossible for him to win. NOT napping!
We have come to the edge of the abyss and now it is time for a bold step forward. There is a political view that the tougher you are, the more credible you are.
Yea, Supreme Court packing is NOTHING like ignoring Obama’s supreme court nomination for 14 months because you pretend to believe that the people should decide should fill that seat. OR rushing through Trump’s supreme court nomination because you’ve had a change of heart and now believe a sitting president has the right and obligation to fill an empty supreme court seat as quickly as possible.
It’s all “packing” regardless of how you look at it. Get off your moral high horse. The GOP lost that right a long time ago.
It’s the same old Drumpfian (and goes back to another god Reagan) tactic of accusing the opposition of the same actions. We’ve seen many picks (Remember Daniel Manion?) of unqualified “judges” approved. What we really need is another Harry Truman as an advocate, although he picked three of four poor justices himself.
The GOP court packing argument is a desperate attempt to paint all Democrats into a corner (I guess since the GOP has all blindly fallen behind Trump they are projecting that behavior onto others) but the Democratic Party has a wide cast of characters, some more vocal than others, and some more powerful than others.
And what one says doesn’t matter til they actually do something, or is the GOP again projecting, thinking there’s really an equivalent Democratic version of Moscow Mitch or Lindsey Graham just lying in wait? (pun intended)
How embarrassing it must be to have ‘sleepy Joe’ with his unenthusiastic supporters raise record campaign funds. Imagine if he was Jumpin’ Jack Flash, his supporters a bunch of ecstasy-fueled rave dancers. Y’all would be a smoking rubble.
Interesting.. yet predictable. Mitch uses every trick in the book to twist the senate to his will/needs.. Yet they howl when there “might” be an opportunity for the democrats to turn the tables. Hypocrisy.. you bet
But you are fine with the Republican senate blocking almost all the Obama appointments to the appellate courts for the final two years of his term then filling all those and then some with arch-conservatives? Who is the court packer? What goes around comes around.
Republicans pack the courts, good. Democrats pack the courts, bad. Notice I said courts. Mitch held up both Supreme and Federal court positions, until he got his stooge trump in.
The simple fact is that if we are going to survive as a nation and a species we will have to address a branch of government bought and paid for by billionaires who oppose regulations or limits on their kleptocratic greed. Taking back the senate is a good start, but Mitch’s (aka the Koch brother’s Stepin Fetchit) court packing will kill people all in the name of the conservative agenda. So f’it: dang skippy the court will need to be packed and the filibuster will need to be dropped.
As opposed to the present packing the court? Even you, Mr. Ramirez, must remember Mr. McConnell’s pious pronouncement “the voters should decide” in 2016. But in 2020, he said he has a “Constitutional duty” that must be fulfilled. Where was that Constitutional duty four years ago?
Desperate false narrative as we’ve watched nearly 4 years of GOP packing federal courts below SCOTUS with unqualified ideologues after spending 6 years blocking judge confirmations. So spare us the faux rage about Dems adding two more seats to the SCOTUS. This isn’t a Marvel movie and you’re not Mysterio.
Not sure who Ramirez is trying to depict riding that mule, since Biden has said in the past that he did not support court packing and is not saying he has changed his mind now…
Mikey, we all know that Republicans stole a court seat from Obama saying you can’t seat a justice in an election year. So now you have Thomas, Alito, Roberts, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and now you (the GOP) perpetrate this monumental hypocrisy, ramming this ultra right wing, dishonest judge who expects us to believe that she has no idea why Trump picked her, down our throats while people are actually voting. Republican senators have been know to brag to their donors about how they’re getting all their judges seated, because you know if you control the courts, you control just about everything. And now you have the colossal stones to accuse Democrats of court packing!? Your guys have been doing that forever. Just STFU.
When Justice Scalia died during the 2012 election year, the GOP sat on Obama’s nomination of Merrick Garland because it was an election year. They also sat on an record number of Obama’s nominations for federal judges across the country. But they greenlighted Trump’s nominations for those court seats and are fast tracking Barrett’s confirmation before the election. Mike, I’m calling BS on you!
Although it’s likely Barrett will be confirmed, and we’re likely stuck with Trump’s nominations to the courts until these judges leave the bench, this shows that we need to do some revisions to the courts. Like expanding the number of Supreme Court Justices (like Jefferson and FDR tried unsuccessfully to do) or enacting term limits for Supreme Court Justices. In the meantime, Biden can’t “pack” those courts himself! He needs the Senate to confirm his appointments, and likely need the assistance of his Attorney General. I personally would like to see Biden keep Merrick Garland in the loop for when/if Thomas, Breyer and/or Scalia either die, fall ill or retire.
The principal psychological flaw of “conservatives” is projection. It appears that some feel some sort of guilt about their relentless plotting and scheming.

Such a joke to say that Biden is too old. He is sane, which is more than you can say for Trump

The court is tilted to the right now and needs to move back to the center. Boring, but necessary.

Four: Congress determines how many Justices and If they expand it (13 districts, 13 Judges), he’ll nominate.

Biden won’t commit to packing the court (everyone knows what his plan is) because he doesn’t want to lose the fringe Bernie Bros. How sad.
