Voila – the hydration pack.

50 years ago I went to Air Force survival school. That was the last time I was in the woods until last year when I went on a trek on the Appalachian Trail. I was surprised by the amount of specialty gear for backpacking: all of it designed to be lightweight.

I will say that R.E.I helped out a lot. I told them I was a newbie, they knew what I needed and I did not feel like they oversold me.

This guy must have incredible legs.

“Yeah it’s heavy, but you told me to carry an actual camel on my back!” / “Camel Pack, Gary. We said Camel PACK!”

Gary is cooler than his friends.

None of those silly fools have their towel.

It’s not even eco friendly since he seems to drop those little pointy cups when he drinks!

At least his cups are more biodegradable…

But whenever he stops he draws a crowd…

Meanwhile, back at the office, productivity has suddenly jumped.

Old backpackers like to say, “It’s easier to carry water in you than on you.” (I think that’s been debunked, tho’.) ¯\(ツ)/¯

If it was up to date equipment, he’d be carrying a keg of micro brew beer.
