Republicans spend too much on that which gives no returns, and cuts revenue to pay for their spending to curry favor with those only out for themselves.

And neither will actually review the government for the immense fraud, waste, and abuse that is rampant in every agency, department, and organization.

I am of the opinion that we could probably cut about 45% of the government staff, agencies and still have a lot of fat on the bone.

I mean there are about 30 (not a typo) police departments in Washington D.C. alone that do NOT include the Metro P.D. Each with their own administration, procurement, supply, support, etc…, Like seriously?

The FBI and ATFE overlap so much its not even funny, but we keep them both around (though the FBI isn’t anywhere near what it once was so……..)

I’m just thinking that the Dems could stop spending my children’s, grandchildren’s, great grandchildren’s money now, and the Republicans could stop cutting wealthy taxes and do what most businesses and families do…….live on what they make. Novel idea, I know.

No question that both things added to the debt. Government spending is necessary in most cases. Many departments were cut back or eliminated under Trump and still the debt rose because of the tax cuts. As anyone knows, you can’t pay off your credit cards by just paying the interest. That’s the situation we’re in now that we are taking in less revenue.

One is investing in the country which reaps dividends. The other was just a tax cut for billionaires and corporations that created more debt.

While there’s pork on both sides, one side of the aisle has almost got a total lock on the pork industry. And they ignore all but the wealthiest people and corporations.

The Turd Reich Traitor Turtle will filibuster to attempt to bring down the economy of the United States of America but won’t even consider taxing the uber-wealthy or making 50 of the most profitable companies pay any taxes at all.

Now aside from cleaning up a four year crap storm of the Mango Menace were faced with roads, bridges, mass transit systems, rural internet systems, and more infrastructure that’s been neglected deliberately if not deliberately ignored and denied in the first place. Why? Because giving America its due, what it desperately needs, and what every citizen deserves just isn’t as sexy as billionaires taking joyride into space, white blond women being murdered investigated while hundreds if not thousands of other American victims of crime are ignored, and people would rather give a crap about Brittany Spears.

Give all Americans what they need and what is due them and tax those who can afford it and yet pay little to nothing, if not nothing at all in the first place.

It’s time to put an end to the oligarchy!

It depends ENTIRELY on what the spending is FOR. Spend on things that increase income (via taxes, not necessarily income taxes) enough to cover the cost, and the spending DECREASES debt… unless, of course, that just makes people happy to spend more, less wisely. On the other hand, increase spending on things that do NOT increase income and, no surprise, the debt increases.

Tax cuts for the rich cause NO INCREASE in income, because the rich put into the economy a very small percentage of their increased stash, and even that is often done in ways that don’t raise their tax expenses.

On Thursday, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) took to Twitter to denounce President Joe Biden’s social spending plans, claiming that they constitute “Marxism.”

Rubio’s comments were swiftly ridiculed by Paul Krugman, political commentator and Nobel Prize-winning economist. “Ah yes, remember that stirring line in The Communist Manifesto: ’Workers of the world, unite to spend 1.2% of GDP on popular programs over the next decade!” replied Krugman.

The debt ceiling increase is necessary to pay for what lawmakers — including Republicans — previously decided to spend. This includes the Republicans’ $2 trillion tax cut and increased spending during the prior administration. Indeed, as Steven Rattner, “car czar” in the Obama administration, wrote recently, the debt explosion has happened primarily under GOP presidents. “The ratio of debt to the overall size of the economy (the ‘debt to GDP ratio,’ in the nomenclature) was at a post-World War II low in 1974, at 22%,” he wrote. “It took 10 years for that figure to grow to 32%, 6 years to increase to 42% and 19 years to reach 52%.” He also noted that, “Less than two years ago, the ratio was 80%; today, after briefly passing 100%, it stands at 98%.”

The numbers tell a story quite at odds with Republicans’ professed concern about fiscal sobriety. “Five of the six presidents who incurred the most debt relative to the size of the economy in the past 60 years were Republicans,” Rattner wrote. Every president has challenges or agenda ideas that result in new spending, but GOP presidents such as Donald Trump have paired spending hikes with tax cuts. The result is a gusher of red ink. Remarkably, according to Rattner, “of the 57 percentage point increase in the debt to GDP ratio since 1960, 52 percentage points — all but five percentage points — were incurred with a Republican in the White House.”

…Republicans insisted their 2017 tax cut wouldn’t increase the debt; when it did, they kept on spending and refused to adjust the tax giveaway. Now, they refuse to increase the borrowing authority to pay for the deficits for which they are primarily responsible.

That “Socialist” Roosevelt called it the CCC—got people working; got projects that were needed done and people were not getting the “government dole……….” to make ends meet……

These are Not equivalent. When the government spends, money flows through the entire system. When GOP cuts taxes, money is hoarded by banks and Uber rich.
