Wow, all those kids are involved in their sock purchasing such that the illogic distracts from simple math?

Measuring IQ is really quite difficult.

If a pair of socks is two, why is a pair of pants only one?? The world wonders.

Some historical drawings of earlier centuries show two ‘leggings’, one for each leg which meet and are tied at the waist. A third item was developed to cover whatever was left exposed. That compares to the way a pair of leather chaps was fitted over what became work pants in the Spanish territories of the southwest and beyond.

Now there is a much better question: If socks come in three pairs per pack, and one pair costs $1.50, how much does the three pack cost? Talk about blank stares.

She’s right. A single pair of sock rarely costs less than $3.50. A single panty, on the other hand…can’t be found. Can it? Or is it ‘panti’? So confusing for we/us guy.

@tdidog: Apropos of pants putting on techniques: a close colleague of mine, who had a kind of vague way of leading up to some esoteric subjects, wandered up to me and said, ‘How do you put your pants on?’ A little hesitant about the purpose, I said, ‘Why do you ask?’

He said his dad told him that he realized he was old when he had to sit down to put on his pants every day.

I replied, ‘I stand up to put on my BVD’s and my pants. And thanks to what you just said, I will plan to practice that as long as possible!’

Still do nearly 30 years later. Don’t plan to stop any time soon, but who knows. One day, that might become my only choice.

She’s wrong about pairs of socks coming in three packs, dress socks are usually sold as a single pair.

How much do two pairs cost. And Caulfield didn’t catch her.
