biology class before lunch is a horrible way to make a school day (if you have a queazy stomach)

Fortunately, I had Biology AFTER lunch but that was the only advantage to it. I had zero interest in science (as my grades reflected) and never envisioned a time in my future that I’d be cutting open a frog or a planarian. Sure enough.

We had to dissect frogs in junior high. One frog per table of students. We three girls made the lone boy at ours do it :)

Could be worse. You could have to do a cat. So you might not want to go into a field of study where you have to take both lecture and lab for Anatomy and Physiology (ie: nursing). You will have to do it. I had to take it and do that.

It’s funny. I can remember having to dissect a frog in school. I remember prepping for it. I remember having it done. However, I have absolutely no memory of actually DOING it.

Frog parts would wind up in people’s lunches where I went. 21 states now give you the option to use and alternative method, fine with me.

The people in charge of planning the school lunch menus in the cafeteria have a really weird sense of humor!

When I was in high school our Human Biology class once took a field trip to a human dissection lab at a local university. Upon returning to school, we got to eat lunch. Cold cheese pizza rectangles.

I loved biology class. Due to limited funds, we were put into groups for dissection (since there weren’t enough specimens to go around), but since I wasn’t squeamish, I always got to do all the dissection anyway. :-D Earthworms were kind of fun, because everything is organized in a line inside. Which I suppose isn’t really surprising, but it’s kind of funny to open them up and realize that yep, they’re really that way inside too. We also did grasshoppers, frogs, and fetal pigs.

The smell of whatever the worm was preserved in. After all these decades, just reading this comic brings back the smell.

Why are they eating lunch at school during finals? Aren’t those half days?

Worms were on of the first things dissected in biology for the final we got whole piglets to dissect. I named mine wilber and severed its head off when we were done just to gross the boys out.

Dissect and earthworm? They’re basically a animated gut with very few internal organs.

My 7th grade class was dissecting frogs when someone thought it would be funny to start tossing the innards, “food fight” style. The actual dissection didn’t bother me; getting hit on the neck with something did. Bleeccchhh
