Jason: I like my gingerbread men to be extra gingery.
Paige: Chocolate freckles? Yum!
how genius of you, Jason
If I recall correctly, Jason once made gingerbread men in Star Trek uniforms, and Paige asked why they were all in red. His reply was to ‘munch, munch, munch’ them. Maybe that wasn’t too long ago?
The hair. ;)
“ginger” is a slang term for a red haired person (note the orange icing), and since red heads often have freckles, he added the chocolate chips.
…or…? is that cayenne pepper sprinkles?
That’s… actually, that’s brilliant, Jason, and for once, it doesn’t backfire on anyone!
but … but.. Star Wars came out this week, I expected Jason to be talking about it. Maybe next week
Am I the only person who has hated the taste of ginger his whole life? Hated in 1945 – hate it today.
For once, Jason and Paige are both happy.
Never thought of using chocolate sprinkles or drops on ginger bread cookies. For me limited on chocolate.
This year, we are making Ninja bread (with martial arts cookie cutters) I’m adding cardamon to the recipe for a little extra punch.
measles, not freckles.
Only a ginger can call another ginger ginger.
@Kab Buch Egg nog doesn’t have ginger in it- that’s nutmeg.
My favorite of Jason’s holiday baking was his gingerbread House (complete with a cane and a couple of Vicodin)
I think context has a major affect on what spices we like. I didn’t understand horseradish until I was visiting a woman’s house who had some thin sliced roast beef and offered me horseradish to go with it. I told her I’d never had it and she proceeded to tell me about the horseradish nose orgasm and guided me to the theretofore unimaginable experience.
When I was in high school I worked as a dishwasher at a sort-of restaurant with a banquet room where I got to indulge in quite a few real Crème de Menthe parfaits on lucky days. The “parfait” was then lodged in my mind as a very great thing.
Later, after college and moving to Boston, I liked a restaurant where the only ice cream desert was a ginger parfait. The parfait (“perfect”) nomenclature had me trying my best to find enjoyment in it. When I don’t remember that failed effort, I think I remember liking ginger. I do enjoy gingerbread this time of year, but I know with enough sugar, almost anything can be entertaining.
is that a harry potter joke or am i getting potteritis?
I thought that the joke on Paige would be that the “chocolate” freckles were strong ginger.
Well, Jason’s ginger cookies are definitely not soul food.
