As a smoker for many many years, free only 1 1/2 years, I will never never pontificate or disparage anyone still struggling with this particular addiction. And certainly not adapt a “holier than thou” attitude.

ugh. I just do not see what he has to offer in this comic strip! But, remembering that it was written in the past — and I have not read what happens next, maybe Lynn used him for good to help others stop smoking? Don’t like him, don’t like his character.

Smoke Smoke Smoke That Cigarette was originally done by Phil Harris in the 40s or 50s. Shows how long people have known it’s dangerous and addictive.

Left cigarettes behind about 30 years ago, didn’t say I quit until around 3 years ago. When I smell them sometimes I still want one, so I will not get in someones face who is still struggling with the addiction. It is already proven that it is more addictive than some drugs, they add extra nicotine to make them that way. So please be polite and understanding to smokers, make your wishes know about needing clean air to breath, but don’t go into an angry tirade, or preach to them about the evils of cigarettes.

Quit a 4 pack a day habit cold turkey November 18, 1983.It was a little after noon. Smoked my last cigarette, put it out, and never had another tobacco product of any kind.It was NOT easy.

I don’t know why people continue to smoke and expose themselves – not to mention those of us who don’t smoke – to the possibility of lung cancer. I lived in a home for 20 years with a parent who smoked until I got married and moved out (22 years ago). My dad died 9 years ago this past June from lung cancer and while I try not to think about it, I still find myself living in fear that being exposed so much, so young, and for so long to his life-long deadly habit will one day be what gets me too, even though I don’t smoke. I’m just amazed that my mother (who will be 75 next month) seems to be doing okay and is cancer-free despite the fact that she lived with my dad and his smoking habit much longer that I did.

I have never had ashtrays in my home and I did not encourage anyone to smoke. Some people used cups or other dishes. I never said anything but they were seldom invited back.

Well, he did find Farley. The only ashtray I bought was a heavy cut glass one to use as a water dish for a kitten. She kept tipping over the regular cat dishes.

My dear Mom continued smoking (albeit less) even as she fought lung cancer. The lung cancer was cured after agressive treat ment but soon after, she passed away from a heart attack. Shows how addictive nicotine can be.

I have never smoked and I abhor such a putrid activity – even at the fireworks display I was surrounded with smokers – can’t stop them from smoking in the great out doors – went home with a head ache and a great need for a shower .. wish smoking was anon existent – I mean there is NOTHING else we breathe in except breath – it’s nuts – wishing all those trying to quit the very best of success
