Coffee Grounds meets Coffyhead! Coffyhead is taking a slightly less in-your-face tack by introducing himself as “Moka.”
Well, I guess today clarifies the “agent” vs. “manager” distinction we were discussing yesterday.
We saw a glimpse of King Lear with Vitamin Flintheart and Mary Perkins (shown on the poster) in 2014, in the teaser for the Tabby Angus story: https://www.gocomics.com/dicktracy/2014/03/07
Grounds has an almost smile in P. 3. It’s like long lost kin meeting up. How many years has Mike waited to have two ‘javanese’ in the same story ? LOL !
So might we actually get to see Mary Perkins “On Stage” before the story is over? Or will she be limited to half her name on the King Lear poster in the background?
Trying to get some understanding here…Coffee Grounds…is he the manager for Tonsils or Flintheart? Nay! Vitamin retired from show business. So he and Coffee must have reached an understanding on “the new discovery”. What’s to stop them from ripping Matt off? Egad! Perish the thought.
The above comment by Josh Here is right on. The good parody of the strip was in early Mad comic books, titled Tick Dracy. The one today is just non creatively poor.
I can’t be certain, but Coffyhead (alias “Moka”) in panel 3 seems genuinely pleased to meet someone else named Coffee: he appears to be smiling in amusement.
But on a more serious note, Coffyhead is of course forwarding his nefarious scheme against neo-Tonsils (note that I carefully avoided detailing the exact nature of his scheme, because that is not yet clear; only that it bodes ill for Matt McCullar)….

What does Coffyhead wants with “Tonsils” anyway? He’s out and that’s that, find another dealer!

Lemme guess…‘Moka’ is going to blackmail Tonsils into resuming his role as supplier or he’ll spill the beans on his criminal past.

1-COFFEE HEAD: Is Floyd around? COFFEE LATTE: Floyd?
2-*COFFEE HEAD: PATTERSON! This is his place ain’t it? I need some muscle!
3-COFFEE LATTE: OH! I’d forgotten. No. He’s dead.
COFFEE HEAD: Like these plays you all put on here?
COFFEE LATTE: No. Deader than that. More like this story to this point.
COFFEE HEAD: What? COFFEE LATTE: What?

It sounds like an SNL parody of a Dick Tracy strip, and not a good one

Terrific! I suppose Moka will represent himself as a record label executive.

One thing I can say about this strip…they sure drink a lot of coffee.

Seems like a good alias for Coffeehead would be Kopf. It’s German for head and sounds like Coff: Coff Head
