Good morning all. I guess the extent of Reggie’s role in the story is to do Elvis impersonation shows, and to look morose every time his brother announces his intention to murder another innocent victim – he looks all shook up but with a wooden heart…
It’s very odd that the two brothers are discussing their daily routines calmly over breakfast, as if it was all just normal stuff, when one of them is (most probably) a murderer. Something just feels “off” here. Is Mike getting ready to throw us a curve ball?
Alternative Script: BARN: Did you forget to cook this? 2- REG: I never get any appreciation for anything I do around here. You’re cruel, cruel, cruel! 3- BARN: I appreciate the way you save on the utility bill by not cooking the food. REG: Thank you…wait. Cruel, cruel, cruel! BARN: Heh, heh.
Reggie “Rocks” Tar gets his nickname because he pays his bills by being an Elvis Imitator. Bar Tar gets his nickname, Teacher’s Pet," by murdering critics of his sports column and/or lovelorn teachers. —At least, that’s the way it’s been set up for us. But so far, all is by implication and broad hints: we have no real facts. There is plenty of room for a curve ball, though Mike’s approach seems to be mostly to forge straight ahead and eschew curves….
I kinda like the idea that both brothers may be “dirty”; or, for that matter, maybe meek Reg is the compensating killer and Barnabas is just an otherwise innocent hotheaded blowhard….
