Something’s wrong. A 4’6" Police Officer? And worse, how is that kind of search even constitutional? Are we really in 1984?

Small quibble: It was a six-year-old girl who got arrested.

And, yeah, what next?! Are they gonna start arresting babies for pooping?!?!?!

    Morons.

Actually it is just an extension of existing procedure. Oral searches have exsisted for decades and since the SCOTUS hasits head up…you see where this is going, don’t you?

It’s evident that none of you have never seen these undisciplined little monsters act up in a store. They can do some damage. I saw a 3 year old kick his dad in the shins with his pointy little cowboy boots that brought tears to his eyes. Public schools ought to have the right to refuse children at any age for the protection of the students and faculty. They raised these monsters, they ought to be made to home school them.

Um, no. Juveniles are not subject to arrest (at least in NYS) unless they have committed a serious felony offense. A temper tantrum won’t cut it. However, I DO appreciate the reductio ad absurdum-ness to this cartoon.

Sorry, ‘Cat ol’ buddy but NY is another planet compared to GA- and most of the rest of the USA:

April 17, 2012 11:49 AM (CBS/WMAZ) MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – “A 6-year-old elementary school student was handcuffed and arrested Friday after she allegedly threw a tantrum in class.”

You know I’m getting really tired of political pundits blaming Scalia for this. The Supreme Court weighed in on the question of whether or not the managers of Jails and prisons can do whatever it takes to keep the prisons and jails free of drugs, weapons and other contraband.

I don’t like that a citizen was strip searched either but our anger should be directed at our lawmakers. With a simple vote they could put in place a law that gave prisoners the right to be free in their person from strip searches and anal probes. I’m honestly surprised they haven’t enacted such policies but I guess congress and the president are quite content to thow people to the wolves once they are arrested even before they have been proven guilty of anything.

The poster child for this issue (the man who was wrongly arrested and strip searched) should have never been arrested in the first place. If our protections worked right he would have been allowed to call his lawyer and make bail before he was ever sent to jail. But isn’t it more fun to blame a strict interpreter of the constitution which is the very document that keeps us free from the evils of government.

Totally scarry. But not unexpected, it is a republican court after all. I’m in favor of officer safety. I’m not convinced having some guy stick something, finger, probe or whatever in a body cavity is the right way to do it. Maybe it should be required that only a doctor perform body cavity searches?

Wasn’t it New York where the police used a wooden handle from a mop or toilet plunger to inspect Louima’s large intestine anally? Wasn’t that found to be a violation, them violating that guy?

I have watched adults climb shelves, knock over displays, run their powered carts into glass doors, etc. When are the Senior Citizens going to learn how to act like Sensible Adults???

The latest ruling is about strip searching for arrest on ANY charge, NOT about searching before jailing. This is about strip searching even without any “risk” to the officers. Searching before incarceration is NOT THE ISSUE! Now as to arresting six year olds for “acting up” in class? Yep, that’s good conservative logic. Keep up those “good old days” conservatives want, like the inquisition.

the local pd defended itself saying that there isn’t an age limit for being arrested. but, seriously, handcuffing a kindergartner? what is next, arresting toddlers for crying? arresting people who can speak spanish…oh, yeah, they do….even though some words from spanish is used in english like alligator, cafeteria, florida, potato…
