For Rat the secret is just another beer. But in truth Rat is the kind of person who can never be truely happy. He’ll always find some excuse why he can’t be happy, and usually it’s those around him that are his excuse.

“Happy is overrated.”.Agreed, Peace and Contentment are much preferred over Happiness, because they are attitudes that last through happy and troubled times.

It appears that all moments for rat are either boring or crappy. No wonder he is so miserable. Yet I doubt that he is just born unlucky. He’s lying in the bed he made, yet complains about it, like some humans I know.

What is the definition of “the moment”? Is it from 1.5 seconds ago to 1.5 seconds in the future?

Reminds me of the short story of the guy who sold his soul to the devil for a watch he could stop any time he was perfectly happy. Of course, he never did.

The story ended on the train to hell—when he finally stopped the watch, so they just kept going and never getting there.

Some days I feel like Pig, some days I feel like Rat. Today I feel like Pig. He tends to live in his own little dream world. Some days, that is nice.

Maybe he’s watchedone of the old M*A*S*H reunion specials and is taking a page out of their book. They revealed on one of the reunions that they used to give the censors scripts with these things they knew would never make the air so that the things they really wanted did. Otherwise the censors eliminated those elements from the script and got rid of some of the things that made some of the jokes work. Maybe Pastis is submitting strips with things worse than crap and sucks in them so crap and sucks are more likely to make it in.
