I’m a little disappointed in Chrystal; openly correcting a friend who defends you from two bullies is not what I expected from her. She could have made the fact that they weren’t ’close’friends clear to Knute after the two bullies went on their way.

And, yes, terrific comment from Knute. Chrystal hurt his feelings with an apparently arrogant tone of voice.

Knute’s Corrections Officer is hot as ever today, and Freak’s mood-matching tee-shirt smiley face is a nice touch that lightens the mood as he deals with the football team bullies (they’re big and wearing a varsity sweatshirt and a varsity letter jacket, so I think it’s fair to deduce that they’re on the Pitts team).

Crystal’s got the same fear of commitment the majority of these characters have. But she’s the only one wearing a choke collar, which makes me think she might be up for something different.

His rapid shift proved they are a couple…reminds me of a green beret bud who courted a stand-for-yourself girl…“Wouldn’t go out with you for a walk if you were a dog,” she said. He showed up with a new leash…in his teeth…she took him up on it. They went out around the neighborhood, him pretending to pee on poles and sniff.I guess they’re still married.

Lotta good comments on the strip today. I agree that in the weekly strips, Crystal thought Knute was weird – maybe she doesn’t want to admit to being a freak. And being “my girl” doesn’t translate to being owned, like she’s thinking. Her arms crossed does seem like a united front, making it seem they ARE a couple..Best statement is Knute’s last one and it’s recapitulated by flyingairman: I’m loving this storyline, and Mojito, you ARE Crystal, our favorite “Corrections Officer.” - You got THAT right!

Crystal is beautifully drawn today. Kudos to Evans and the Sheriff and his Color Monkeys. In 1999, Evans did a long arc about Luann changing her hairstyle. It ran from Sept. 28 to Oct.17. The Sunday strips of Oct. 10 and Oct. 17 were both in continuity with the hairstyle arc.Does today’s strip presage a similarly momentous occasion? Maybe Evans has chosen these two characters to develop. Lately, no matter who the arc is about, there are evidently readers who want to see more of “fill-in-the-blank.” I like Crystal’s placid, deadpan response to being called names.

If that’s the case, then a lot of popular songs and at least two movies are gonna have to be rewritten and retitled to account for that “meaningful difference”. I really think you’re straining at gnats here – What other meaning do you think that “my girl" has here? That Knute meant that no one should diss his girlfriend, or that he thinks she’s his secretary? .C’mon – “my girl”, “my guy”, “my woman,” “my man” are the same thing as “my girlfriend” or “my boyfriend” – it indicates that person is your partner in a relationship, just as the legal designation “my husband” or “my wife” does. Outside of an overfamiliar or condescending designation in the workplace, the only time confusion might legitimately arise is when a woman refers to a female friend as her “girlfriend” when she isn’t in a dating relationship with her.

As I recall, I disagreed with you some time months ago and gave a reason for doing so – you reacted as though I’d shot your dog and responded with several personal insults – so all I can say is: don’t attribute your own poor attitude to me..If anyone disagrees with me, bring it – I like a lively debate and exchange. BTW, it’s “brook”, not “bruck”, and if I didn’t tolerate any rebuttal, I wouldn’t be discussing anything with Baldy and Dave right now. .What I don’t have a lot of tolerance for is misinformation – facts, however, are not the same thing as opinions, and there’s plenty of different ways to interpret the basics. I always try to explain the reasoning behind my comments – if that comes off as “judgmental” then I really do suggest you skip my posts in future. .If you’re pissed off that I have an opinion regarding legal issues and are somehow incensed that I didn’t graduate from law school or pass the bar and you did (that is what you’re implying by “some of us”, yes?) then why aren’t you and the rest of the lawyers you obviously think you speak for posting? As a matter of fact, I’ve made it quite clear on a number of occasions that I never went to law school, so how, exactly, do I think I’m the only person who did – since I didn’t? Again, that’s a lot of your personal baggage.

The forum doesn’t lock after a certain number of responses, there’s no designation of Legal Pundit so that everyone else is blocked, so if you somehow think I’m stealing your glory and thunder by posting, for God’s sake bust a move and write about the issue on your own, rather than do nothing except save up your “that should be me up there” resentment for a passive-aggressive personal attack. .Again, anyone who proffers an opinion is being “judgmental” about something – and in this case, pot, that seems to be you.

If this was a single day strip, about 7-10 minutes, Moj.The pricing structure for coloring dailies that I follow was predicated on coloring a set of 6 dailies in approx. 45 min. to an hour. I work as an independent freelancer at a fixed rate for each feature, so the faster you are the more you make per hour. Strips like Monty are way more difficult (and priced accordingly), but can take a couple hours if it is a particularly tediously drawn week of work. If I didn’t love his strip so much, I would hate to work on it.Greg is super consistent in how he draws people and objects, and that goes a long way towards speedy production.

Knute could have used the term, “my friend”, but then we wouldn’t have a cartoon, or Knute’s very humorous response. I give Greg 4 stars for today’s effort.

Dennis, FYI, reposting the same thing over and over again isn’t really a legitimate argument. While it’s nice of you to let me know I can ignore your posts in future, since I didn’t go out of my way to attack you and complain about your posts in the first place, that statement is almost a non-sequitur as advice goes. What I do notice is that your coherency is definitely suffering – good thing you don’t have to deal with lawyers, eh? .Whatever you think my “weaknesses” are, or aren’t, is immaterial – what I see is that whatever I post seems to get your knickers in a bunch. Again, skip over them if they aggravate you so much. Like a lot of people here, I have a lot of weird and specialized knowledge and if it’s relevant or reinforces my argument, I’ll include it in my post. Sorry, but I’m not going to apologize for having an education, a point of view, or the ability to write and express it, nor will I dummy up and let something that I know for a fact to be incorrect go unchallenged, or dumb down the rest of my responses in order to make you feel better about yourself. And if someone posts something I disagree with, yeah, I’ll comment on it – just as I’d expect someone will comment on any statements I make, if they disagree with them. .As for the rest, my “absolute pronouncements” are no more “absolute” than anyone else’s opinions – I suppose you completely missed the irony inherent your own accusations, but whatevs. If it pisses you off that I can actually defend my POV and you can’t, perhaps that’s point where you should reevaluate whether your position is actually worth holding on to. This is what informed debate and/or disussion is all about. Hey, I could put “I think” before every statement to qualify and soothe whatever rage you have going on, but, quite frankly, I figured that most people on this forum were intelligent enough to make that leap without my needing to fill in the dots. .And as for your latest court experience…well, let me just say that 1) I’m really not that surprised and 2) I bet “he refused to admit it because his ego got in the way” is a phrase that people around you get to hear a lot.
