We heard there were fairly good presales but I don’t remember anything about actual sales. Is his fantasy based on anything other than dreams?

That’s Jeff. He’ll make a million on his book, and blow it in the first month. But isn’t this also a comment on the kind of real-estate-loan business model wherein the commission on the sale/loan is all that matters, and whether or not the mark, I mean consumer, can actually sustain the commitment entered into matters not in the least? The business model that, along with absence of legal controls, has come so near to bringing down the world’s economy?

Don’t know the exact path, but I think we all where all of this is going to end up. Jeff, broke, will be back home with Mom and Dad in fairly short order.

It’s a long honored tradition in Doonesbury world. When Zonker inherited a pile, he bought a peerage and they gave the rest to Baby Doc to buy back his zombie uncle.

GBT is putting Jeff back in Plato’s Cave, where he belongs. Let’s hope he stays there.

Hmmm… this is starting to look like one of Jeff’s flights of fancy. Authors don’t make that much money without a movie deal.

There’s something ironic about Doonesbury fans rooting for the failure of even successful cartoon characters.

Sheesh. Jeff found his niche as a writer and he’s making money. The hatred for a character like this is astonishing. It’s hard to believe that so many people can be envious of a fictional character and can’t wait for his downfall.

I hope the reality that Jeff has been experiencing kicks in and says this is a bad idea. I’m fairly certain it won’t, but I’m hoping here.

Some of you people really need to get a life. He’s only a character in a comic strip. He’s a fiction of GT’s imagination. He’s not a real guy buying a real house. Kind of like Jim Carey in The Truman Show. It’s not real dude.

The point being, people like to discuss other people’s creations, whether they’re serious literature or just comic strips. I don’t think anyone here makes an 11X13" screen their reality.

jimwill0803, nothing wrong with commenting on comic strip characters, movie characters, TV shows, characters in novels, and so on. It’s just entertainment. I’m sure that 99.9% of the people who comment on these boards realize that it’s not real life, and probably most of us have other things going on in our lives. It’s just for fun, sheesh! And since these comments are attached to each comic strip, what’s wrong with using them for commenting on comic strips??
