Did anyone else hear that Wikipedia is shutting downsometime today for one day for something aboutpiracy?

Wikipeida is shut down for 24 hours starting at 12 a.m. EST due to legislation that’s being discussed about piracy, lists of companies that can be shut down for alleged piracy and censorship. The bill is referred to as SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act).

Wikipedia is shut down as a protest to unfair legislation being proposed to control copyright pirating. They should enforce whatever laws are in place now. The president is threatening to veto the bill if it makes it to his desk. I hope it fails to pass either the house or senate. It is overreaching and unfair. This strip is weird today.

You can still look up stuff on Wikipedia by disabling javascript in your browser. If you read their information, they tell you that and that their point is to make sure everyone knows about SOPA and PIPA.

This is one of those gags that you don’t realize until after the fact, but the Garfield that’s drawn on the wall isn’t on the carpet like Jon is, but he’s on the wall. Commitment from the start that you don’t notice being commitment… Nice!
