Grover’s Own Party-——Norquist favors dramatically reducing the size of the government. He has been noted for his widely quoted quip: “I don’t want to abolish government. I simply want to reduce it to the size where I can drag it into the bathroom and drown it in the bathtub.”-——-A great country deserves better than politicians that pledge to destroy it for the sake of personal profit.
There is a difference, if you study it, between being incompetent and getting nothing done because the opposition’s STATED (Mitch McConnel) strategy is to see Obama fail. His competence doesn’t factor into their willingness to make the economy tank and add to the suffering of millions of citizens just to drive him from office. And that’s why I WILL vote for him—he’s the only one NOT acting like a two-year-old. And I love the prospect of freeing him up from the worry of re-election—we may get some REAL hope and change.
Republicans don’t want to cut the military, but they don’t want to pay for it either. I guess they live in a parallel universe where math doesn’t exist. Even with the planned cuts if the committee failed, the military would still have the same budget they had in 2007 with inflation added in. And cutting Social Security is irrelevant since it doesn’t impact the deficit. GWB was responsible for 42% of the current debt, and now his buddies don’t want to own what they created.
Obama has tried everything to work with Congress, but “compromise” is not in the Congressional lexicon. It may hurt, but let the auto “cuts” begin. It will serve the Tea Party and Rethuglicans right! If the Right does manage to get the Presidency, it won’t be because of me…OBAMA 2012!!
Just what are Grover Norquist’s qualifications to dictate tax policy to the Repubs? I hear an awul lot about what he SAYS, but what’s he ever actually DONE? For example, has he ever successfully predicted any economic trends?
Investigate every member of Congress who signed his pledge. Isn’t it somewhat treasonous to pledge allegiance to Norquist rather than to the Constitution?
Obama has my vote. The Republicans can’t offer anything other than tax cuts for the rich, and destructive policies to pander to the crazies in their party.
Dear Chromosome, being a fiscal conservative isn’t a bad thing. Too bad our federal and state govts. haven’t taken the clue over the years.
However, voting blindly as a Republican, as many others will do, has the potential to bring this country to its knees! The income divide will continue to widen, we’ll become ever-increasingly beholden to China and other countries who buy our debt, and our economy will sink into Depression.
And as much as I’d like to consider moving to Canada or somewhere in Europe or Scandinavia where their “socialist” programs actually work for their citizens, it probably won’t matter since the world economy will tank right after ours does. Not a pretty scenario, in my opinion.

And that right there is why the supercommittee failed. And Obama saw it coming. One of many reasons why I’m voting for him next year.

The government IS the people. If Grover hates it so much, he should go to Somalia. That’s his paradise…

Here’s my question:
Just what are Grover Norquist’s qualifications to dictate tax policy to the Repubs? I hear an awul lot about what he SAYS, but what’s he ever actually DONE? For example, has he ever successfully predicted any economic trends?

I don’t remember voting for grover norquest or the koch brothers, so why are they running the country? I’m voting for Obama.

This pledge is unimaginably stupid. To hold up everyone’s needs just to pander to the rich. I’m fiscally conservative, but I’m supporting Obama.
