I love that she knows the Carters on a first-name basis.

You can’t be SURE you’ll be safe on any trip, especially to Haiti. Then again, you can’t be SURE you’ll be safe in your own home either. Life isn’t any fun if you never take any risks!

perhaps carter will do something good for haiti. Lord knows he didn’t for the usa.

Carter is the last president to have lifetime Secret Service protection, but I don’t find any record of whether he still takes advantage of it or not.

We had a relative who volunteered with Habitat and worked with the former president & his wife. Even though she’d addressed them as ‘Jimmy’ and ‘Rosalyn’, she would say ‘the Carters’ in the third person.

It would be disrespectful to refer to them as Evie did in the 2nd panel.

One of my son’s does a lot of that charity but only knows people in his state of TX; He also does special olympics and others as part of his charities. Happy for Evie, but must too much for me.

My brother and sister-in-law are missionaries in Haiti. They have been robbed at gunpoint and she almost died from malaria. They have been there for years, though.
