Looks like ADHD to me. Being someone who has it in just that manner, anyway. Untreated, I can lose a conversation mid-word and come back again just like that.
Hello all Nozzi I do not have ADHD but I have seen children to adult’s who do. Holly is way to calm going to sleep disorder. Not paying attention. Ones I have seen ADHD speeed talk and move very fast cannot stay still. Get bored very easy. Not sure if someone who has ADHD can sit still long enough to read and have to be on the go. There must then be different forms of ADHD.
My daughter has ADD,, minus the hyper-activity,, she distracts very easily, the school found out if she is given a lesson, and things go on around her she is always looking around to “check it out”. So they realized one day watching her, she isn’t distracted when her ipod is on, so now she is allowed to have her ipod, with one headphone in (so she can hear when teacher speaks). And all her works gets done and on time.
I don’t think today’s strip tells the whole story. That’s a little too extreme a reaction, especially the “huh?” in the last panel. Might something actually be wrong? Maybe Holly’s, um…“becoming a woman.” THAT would complicate her life.
I have ADD, as does one son and my daughter. My other son has severe ADHD and Tourettes. Our house is the land of the sticky notes and reminders on our cell phones. We laugh when one of us says to the other, “Hey, remind me later to (fill in the blank)” We call it the Ooooo, look, shiny disease. I am also adopted, and found a half brother a few years back. He is also ADD, and also calls it the Look, shiny disease. Even before we met he did. We then found another half brother who does not have it, but 3 of their 8 kids do. Family reunions would be fun, but we would all forget to show up.
Wondering about something…at the top of this page are the Stone Soup collective characters and Andy is missing. Wonder why? He is still an active member of the strip.
@ZacBSM; Andy has been missing for a long time. There are ten major characters in Stone Soup, and only nine appear at the top of the page (I omit Biscuit as a major character, but if she is, then there are eleven). Periodically I mention this. But nobody pays attention…

Really? Or is Holly just bored? It will be interesting to see how this all ends up.

ADHD stands for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

Or the class could be so mind numbing no normal person can keep on track as they drone on and on…..

Holly doesn’t have ADHD, people, she’s the typical teenage girl who’d rather spend time with the cute boys rather than pay attention in class.

Me wonders if Holly is not getting enough sleep trying to stay up for long periods of time. Mom had a hard time getting her up and ready for school.

I was in Holly’s shoes at that age. I had ADD and still do. I’m always distracted. At least I learned to write my daydreams down on paper.

She needs coffee. I was in middle school when I first started drinking it.

Nobody has mentioned that red-headed boy in the middle two panels. Could that be what’s distracting Holly?
