Val: What did you buy for school, Holly?
Holly: Shall I do a fashion show?
Holly: I got so many cute things, DESPITE Gramma's veto on a LOT of great stuff.
Val: Let me guess...
Gramma Evie: Her idea of "great" was my idea of "Hookers 'R' Us."

Hope mom makes Holly take clothes back and get school clothes. Not sure if school will allow those clothes they have rules against them.

My Beloved calls them prostitots. WHY do parents need to spend hundreds of dollars to make their six-year-old look like a medium-price call girl? Especially when the kid will outgrow the clothes in a couple of months???

I agree. I’m very happy that my kids are not into that stuff, but either way, why buy it for them?? I wish parents would be adults more often than they do. It is NOT cute to see how adult your child can look like. And it’s not even attractive to see adults dressed like prostitutes.

Yep skimpy clothes & make-up in 3rd grade, dating in 4th, pregnant in 9th. Not a great picture is it. My daughter didn’t understand or like my rules, but when she finally got to go on her first CHAPERONED date in 9th grade, she was thankful that I had those rules. I’m easing her into make-up so she understands how to TASTEFULLY wear it. Most of her friends have been wearing dark circles around their eyes since they were in 5th grade, she’s not going to be allowed eye liner or mascara until she’s a junior or senior & even then I’ll teach her less is more. The whole idea of make-up is to look natural while you accentuate the positive LOL.

Did you see the article about the mother who does not see anything wrong with getting a boob job and butt implants for her four-year-old, so she can win “Tiaras and Tots”?

I am probably one of the stricter mom’s of my daughters friends. dating was a No until 16. Make up was out until 11th grade. No hooker clothes. It’s funny though, I am the hang out house. Her friends come to me with their problems and know there are rules in my house. Kids crave structure and rules and will gravitate to a parent that offers acceptance, rules and responsibility. Even if it is not their parent. We actually moved in a friend of hers a few years ago because his home life was a crappy thing. There are rules, chores, expectations and just a few weeks ago, he joined the National Guard and is only 6 credits away from his BA

@ ChappellGirl and widgets – kudos to you both. Your kids (and their friends) are lucky to have such good parenting examples. I also think girls should be encouraged to see themselves as “just fine” without makeup.

My high school’s dress code explicitly forbade the following on girls:Spaghetti straps, halter tops, short shorts, miniskirts, and any showing of navel, buttocks, and cleavage. So, there was no chance of a Hooker Project Runway being put on.As a boy, I like my Pokémon and Thundercats shirts, and cant stand to even have the waistband of my underwear sticking out of my pants. This applied also when I was young, before they started selling pushup bras for little girls.
