Good evening all! Mr. Gould? Never heard of him. Is he a regular in the Tracy strip? Just kidding! Stop hitting me already!

Good segue, great art. I am curious about why the story arcs have been so short. Locher took forever to do nothing, these guys have great pacing and storytelling but things wrap up right when they’re becoming fascinating.

It’s going to be interesting to see how the kid fits into the arc. Right now I don’t see where they need much of an investigation. They have evidence of a crime (the pirated, bootleg DVD) and they know who sold it. Lean on Barney and make him talk. Problem solved, unless they need an innocent-looking kid to buy DVDs from Barney’s supplier.

This Honeymoon is very cute and endearing; I hope she comes to no harm working with Sam and Pop Pop. Good thing Tracy checked with that Gould guy at the Scarlet Sting Company!

Oh, I almost forgot. For those who want to relive the death of Moonmaid and see a younger honeymoon, here you go. The Death of Mysta Tracy

@Maxine (from yesterday) Just some speculation and observation. ;D

@Quantumtopedo1 (from yesterday) You’re welcome. It is good to see the team use Tracy’s old friends, though I’m finding Vitamin Flintheart to be conspicuously absent so far. Tess as well, come to think of it. We’ve only seen her in one panel since the new team took over!

I am so glad to see that Honeymoon will be following in the footsteps as her “pop pop”, and her dad Junior in fighting crime. Even her mother, the late Moonmaid helped Tracy fight cime in the 70’s. I am just THRILLED that Joe and Mike have brought Honeymoon back to life. I love the way Joe is drawing her.

I just found this fun project for Tracy fans. I think I’ll make one to put on Shelley’s desk. Cubee Craft – Dick Tracy

Could someone help me out with the genealogy here (Honeymoon)…is Junior Dick Tracy’s son? Was he married to Moonmaid? Where does Sparkle Plenty fit in? (I do know that Sparkle was the first child born to Gertie & B.O.)

Scuttlebutt99: my initial thought was, it’s obviously a copyright violation. The first amendment doesn’t allow you to steal other people’s work. And that’s fine up through the “and” in the second panel—the SS, as a fictional character, belongs to the Scarlet Sting Company Inc LLC etc. .BUT… in the Tracyverse, Dick himself is a real person, not a fictional character, and if the “Making of Scarlet Sting” book is a piece of non-fiction, it’s not at all clear that Tracy has any trademark or property rights to his own name. Just as Doubleup has no legal right to keep the local paper from reporting on his arrest..That fourth wall can get really complicated at times…

Is there some additional history to Scarlet Sting that those of us who haven’t followed Tracy regularly should know?

@marguritemI have to agree, that design of young teen Honeymoon - is the best design to come off Staton’s pen since he started on Dick Tracy.

    It’s a winner !

Junior is Dick Tracy’s adopted son.Junior married a character called Moon Maid. He and Moon Maid had a daughter named Honeymoon.Moon Maid was killed when all traces of the Science Fiction era of Dick Tracy were mothballed or eradicated.Junior then married Sparkle Plenty. Junior and Sparkle had her first kid, Junior’s second, Sparkle Plenty Jr.

    DW,

    Re your question below:

    " . . . did Tracy ever get the A-hole?"

If you means the guy who killed Mysta Tracy, aka Moon Maid, not exactly.

Little Littel was trying to kill Tracy to cash in on a million dollar bounty the Big Boy had put on his head. The wrong person got killed.

Dick, Jr., enraged and grief-stricken, helped develop evidence that Littel was the prime suspect, and went out to confront him, with the intention of killing him.

Before he could take the irreversible final step of murdering LIttel in revenge, Littel’s wife, Lily Littel, intervened. Littel had been in the process of building a second bomb to take another try at Tracy, which he had armed just before Junior’s entrance.

Tracy, Sam, and Lizz arrived before Lily could kill Junior. But the bomb started to activate.

Littel ordered everyone out and tried to disarm it, but unsuccessfully. Littel, though a murderer, redeemed himself by saving everyone else.

The whole story can be found in DICK TRACY – THE COLLINS CASEFILES, Volume One.
