“Vampire Sorority Babes”. Actually not that outrageous a title these days. Who could have foreseen the popularity of vampires back then? (I can’t see it now).

…nice bun, babe, er, I mean lady! Shall we ‘trip the light fantastic’ (on the sidewalks of New York) after you get off work?BTW, Hobbes needs to “Pack up your troubles in your old kit bag and smile, smile, smile”. That sober face won’t get it done.

    1) At six, how does he know what a ‘babe’ is. 2) His mom left him alone long enough to make it downtown? 3) Two is correct, Calvin. One for you and one for me. I wanna see the babes.

LOL, Hobbes, I love your subject headings!

Charlie Chaplin was a genius. Have you read his atuobiography? He came from a poverty-stricken background. His mother used to sew shirts to keep Charlie and his brother fed.

The voice is coming from his bum. Dead giveaway. (Although the stuffed tiger is a good clue, too.)

My comment has been deleted by GoComics, apparently because one of the links that I provided went to a film clip on YouTube that had been put there by a commercial entity. Anyway, for all who like the way that Bill Watterson combines humor with underlying serious themes in Calvin and Hobbes, I was recommending watching any of Charlie Chaplin’s greatest films: The Kid (1921), The Gold Rush (1925), City Lights (1931), Modern Times (1936), and The Great Dictator (1940). Chaplin was a true genius who raised comedy to a whole new level by intertwining humor with serious themes. Bill Watterson is also a true genius, and the underlying serious themes in his comic strip are a big reason that both Chaplin’s films and Watterson’s Calvin and Hobbes have stood the test of time.

Hi, JoanHelen. Hope you are having a good winter at the southern tip of Africa. Yes, I’ve read Chaplin’s autobiography, and one wonders how such a amazing mind for humor could come out of such circumstances. But comedy and tragedy are often closely linked. Some consider “The Kid” to be Chaplin’s greatest masterpiece, and it’s about a child living in poverty, inspired by his own childhood. Speaking of comedy and tragedy being closely linked, many people on this site consider it a real tragedy that Bill Watterson no longer writes comedy. :>)

Bill Watterson’s birthday is July 5th, 1958.The Reality Check author has been a Calvin & Hobbes tribute week.

Now, this comic is sick — but I included it for completeness.
