Wally: I'll have the usual.
Server: The usual, Wally?
Wally: Bring me the usual.
Joan: This is a SHOE store.
Wally: And thank goodness they still MAKE these!
I went with my lady to a er, I mean 5 shoe shops ONCE. Four hours, no shoes. Last week I went and bought a pair of oxfords, the first pair I tried. Men know how to shop,
There’re some restaurants I go to where I will consistently get the same thing until it gets to the point where if they see me they start making what I like. It makes me feel special. :)
Re restaurants and having the same thing, its not like I eat at the same restarurant every day, normally there’s a week or more between those meals, so its not really monotonous and/or boring to me….
I don’t eat at restaurants to often can’t afford it and at home we can fix the way we like and healthy to.
There is one place like Walmart that has dropped a lot of merchandise, which I find bad.
I have wide feet so shoes with med width doesn’t help and neither does bunions.
I echo your sentiments. I wear an 11W, and before they changed the way they stock the shoes there was a 10+ section about 6-8 shoe boxes wide. It was always well picked over. The rest of the sizes had plenty left. I once questioned why they don’t have more of the 10+ sizes I was told they don’t sell as much as the other sizes.
,,,,let’s do some math here. You buy 500 regular shoes and 50 10+ shoes. You sell 400 regular, but 49 10+ You’re sold more of the 10+, The clerk just couldn’t wrap his mind around the math, to him 400 is always more than 49 instead of 80% vs 98%
This is SO like my hubby! But he’s lucky in that usually, he can still find the same style when his old ones wear out. Even if I find a style I like very well, when I need a new pair, I can’t find the exact same style again.
400 shoes @ $10 = $4000.00
49 shoes @ $12 = $588.00
Percentage-wise doesn’t seem to make as much profit & is most likely why a store stocks fewer shoes in sizes larger than the “average person” will wear.
hey, no, @harebell, not for one minute is that “your own personal conspiracy”! They’ve got it in for me too! Two stores in my neighbourhood just remodelled, each getting at least 20% bigger. And I could just see some smartass on the computer, using the latest software, calculating how much of each item had sold lately, and guess what - neither store carries my favourite stuff any more… I even phoned the wholesaler and asked if I could buy it from them, but no, of course not, they only sell to retail dealers. So logically, they will probably stop making and selling it too…
Seems like the best way to be is to buy whatever the great unwashed majority buys. Then it will always be available. And be flexible - if the fashion changes, change what you want right along with it.
And I AM SO talking about the content of today’s comic strip!
My pet peeve on this is jeans and running shoes. I no sooner find a style that fits than it’s GONE.
I share your pain on the wide shoes. You have to go to the pricey stores and pony up the bucks. The good side of this is that they usually last a lot longer.

He’s easy to buy gifts for at least. While I like the same things most of the time, I do want some variety or else it gets boring after a while.

I like shopping but it would be easier if rather than walking all over searching for something you could know what you want and just go buy it.

I always have to shop around, even when I get the “same” shoe, sometimes they don’t fit the same!
