Punk does not always comment on Oliphant’s cartoons–esp. the grimmer ones.

ransom:Is it possible you’re using Safari(maybe on an iphone)? If so, don’t just keep clicking to post because Safari doesn’t refresh properly. If you reload the page you’ll see it was posted even if the browser didn’t refresh the screen on it’s own.

There’re plenty of mountainous regions like that in Afghanistan.

We definitely need OUT of Afghanistan, and Iraq, and Germany, Korea, heck, even Spain. The terrain is too rough to win “militarily” but depends on our winning over the CIVILIAN POPULATIONS, which Greg Mortenson has a plan for, and which Obama has recognized, but the greater American “public” and whacko right completely missed. Even the whacko left has missed the message. Americans can’t handle and actual plan based on reality.

I was talking with someone yesterday (pre-speech) who said we needed to eliminate the Taliban. The thing is, *we* can’t do that, only the Afghanis can. Perhaps more humanitarian and infrastructure work would help. But ultimately, it’s up to the Afghanis themselves.

rikoshayrabbit —-You are on target. Corporations really need small protracted wars to keep profits steady. War, then peace, then war again rocks the boat. Just small wars here and there, but never really any peace in-between each one, will keep the military-industrial complex humming. It’s really a fact of life…..America needs a threat (or a perceived threat) to make the engine run. It’s true for any country—-it’s just human nature, and the banks know it.

And again I must ask…..why does ANYONE think sand, mountains, barbaric, superstitious, tribal people who hate everyone (while praying to Allah multiple times per day) is worthy of the gargantuan waste of time, lives & resources? It’s 8 damned years LATE for EVERYONE to rise up and DEMAND an end to this B.S.!
