Former Vice President Dick Cheney: Oo kagh gooshish koo ghee - I uschkoo gee gick schay gee! Punk: I had the same thought on the top of my tongue. Translation: "You can't do this to me - I used to be Dick Cheney!"
@ Church - true, he’s innocent until proven guilty. Everyone is. Yet I think he’s been a fair bit more disrespectful (politically) towards Obama than Gore was to Bush. Just imo.
As for what Bush and Cheney had to do with 9/11, there are some things we will never know. Yet as far as I’m concerned, there’s definitely reason for them to shoulder some of the blame for letting it happen.
Why? Because Clinton left a unit working on Bin Laden, Bush ignored it (until 9/11). When there was a presidential briefing about the threat Bin Laden posed, he didn’t do anything either - as far as one can tell. Cheney, as VP, should have contributed with advice and experience, so he doesn’t get a free pass either..
We may never know for 101% sure just how the WTC fell, or the Pentagon was hit, but 9/11 happened on Bush’s watch. And he can not claim he never could have known, or that it was only other people’s fault. After getting the briefing folder, he was informed there was a thread. From that point on, anything that happened since was partly his responsibility, since he was at the helm. It was, to use the expression, on his watch. Here, btw, is the declassified text: http://news.findlaw.com/hdocs/docs/terrorism/80601pdb.html . I’m not going as far as saying Bush is the one responsible for 9/11, I don’t have anything proving that - simply that he shouldn’t be off the hook either.
As for Cheney mouthing off on all channels, hah. His die-hard fans will still cheer him, the rest will find him as repulsive as always.
